View Full Version : Why are issued goggles, usually not used?

I've noticed, in the thousands of pictures, that are widely seen on this forum, that the goggles issued with desert uniform, are ever hardly used. This is not, only limited to the American soldiers, but I've also seen that the Brits, Poles and even Canadians, who have been serving in either Afghanistan or Iraq, hardly ever use standard issue. Soldiers, tend to buy their own, or just use sunglasses.

I don't get it?

Because those original issued ones suck ass. But now they issue out good ****. From Wiley X to ESS and few other companies.

I wore mine in A-stan but only when standing up in the Bison and in the wind. They are uncomfortable as hell.

The M44 "Dust, Wind, Sand" Goggles are ssshiiit. I think the ESS ones are issue for Marines now?

To everyone, in fact. There's 2 types of goggles in the supply system, the Wiley X and a couple different ESS sets.

Because they suck bigtime.

ANOTHER REASON may be because under the conditions that a soldier would need to wear them, IE dusty windy ****, nobody takes pictures. That could ruin the camera in that kinda weather. So, therefore, there will be less pictures of them in use, unless they have some fancy camera filter dealies that keep sand outta the camera or some ****.

Just a thought.

Oh and SWDG's suck.

anybody used "BODY SPECS" goggles/sunglasses before... ? any thoughts.. ?
