Vice President and Mrs. **** Cheney visited members of the U. S. Army Southern European Task Force (SETAF) Jan. 28 during the final day of their trip to Europe. Receiving a thunderous ovation from a crowd of about 1,000 Soldiers, civilian employees and family members, the vice president thanked the community members for their service. Cheney gave special praise to SETAF’s 173rd Airborne Brigade, which on March 26 parachuted into Northern Iraq during the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom. “The 173d Airborne is upholding its historic reputation as one of the bravest and most skilled brigades in the history of the nation,” Cheney said. He went on to describe the 173d’s airborne assault into Iraq as a crucial part of the strategy to open a second front in the war to liberate Iraq.

In the photo with the men standing in formation, note the man with the combat scroll of the 75th on his shoulder. Hooah!

So does that mean that he used to be in the Regiment, and was reassigned to the 82nd Airborne? Or is he just Ranger-course qualified?

When you wear a patch on the right side
it means he was in combat with a Ranger Bat.
or the Regiment. Ranger school is a tab.
Ranger Bat/Regiment is a scroll.
Now, if you go through Ranger school and
get assigned to say, the 82nd, you wear the
Ranger tab and the 82nd (AA) patch. If say,
you re-enlist for a Ranger Bat./Regiment, after you
were in the 82nd (for example) you
will wear the tab and scroll.

Yeah, right.

Hey, if you Army guys start using the A-10A, I'm game. :D

Which, now that I think about it, may not be so far-fetched! Given how much the AF brass doesn't like the 'Hog.

Although still unlikely because the AF would not let the "Army peons" take over one of their jobs. :(

It wasn't in reference to the pictures, yah goof! :P

I was talking about how the Air Force is at one minute saying, "We really don't like the A-10." And then telling the Army they can't have it because that would "overlap" capabilities too much.

The whole thing was just a joke anyway!

Could the Army ever operate A-10s? I thought that one of the deals when they created the AF after WW2 was that the Army could no longer have fixed wing aircraft with a certain wingspan. Am I right about that? Anybody know?
