I'm going with some friends and just wanted to know where a few Americans can have a good time in Canada. Anyone else from England Germany or Italy can tell me about some good places, I would apprieciate it. Thanks!

Stay AWAY fro mQuebec, they can be assholes, quite often. If you want sight seeing in the wild go to British Columbia, if you want big tourist attractions like civilization and such go to Toronto, or for historical values in Ottawa, both in Ontario. Good luck

well in
British Columbia
-great weather all year round
- you can visit the Kootenays, but thats more for skiing
- ive never been to Vancouver but it sounds like a good place
-mostly mountains and is along ocean beautiful province

Alberta
-only western side has mountains, but great veiw
-Calgarys a great city to go to, lots of stuff to do
-Edmonton also a great city, has the largest mall in world or NA(West Edmonton Mall)

Saskatchewan
- :| ive driven threw through it...... no trees, no mountains, very very boring, lots and lots of ski though :)

Manitoba
-lots of lakes, great weather(except in winter)
-Winnipeg is an amazing city

Ontario
-Kenora is aboot 2hrs drive from Winnipeg, awsome little city, i go there every year, lots of stuff to do
- Toronto ive never been but mabey some other Canadians can fill you in on it
-Ottawa, capital city of Canada...^
-theres more cities

Quebec
-hmm well english is the second language there, they dont want to be part of Canada, they didnt sign the constitution in 1982, its all french there, not neccesarlly a bad thing but...

Then theres all those eastern provinces:Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island... i dont know nothing about them

Go to Vancouver Island. It has the only rainforest in Canada I believe. It is so very beautiful, very lush, relaxing, and peaceful. Vancouver has a great atmosphere and excellent night life. Unfortunately the nation is so diverse and large, no one area is alike. If you want wildlife, go to Banff in Alberta. The Maritimes have great people, interesting traditions. Montreal is a great city with great food and museums or so I have heard. Manitoba, and particularity Winnipeg, the people are very friendly I find. Saskatchewan is flat unless you head north. And, ultimately, is too damn hot in the summer. So, over-all check B.C and Alberta. Great places to visit and enjoy your stay!

Yes it does very much thanx. Ill stay away from Quebec if they don't like fellow Canadians they sure as hell won't like Americans. I was looking at Toronto and my parents have been to British Columbia and loved it so im definetly looking at that too.

If you go to Quebec city there are menues in German, i know cause I was in Quebec city last summer and I met a German family and I began chatting with them in my broken German. They told me they liked Quebec city better then Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal - Quebec city was Canada's first capital and the old part of Quebec city looks just like a French city.

Since your from Europe and you don't have all that many great natural wonders like us in Canada I say like the others head to the Western Part of Canada British Columbia or Alberta to the mountains. Vancuver is a nice town as is Victoria maybe you cna do some whale watch while your there too.

If you go to Ontario its more industrial and more like built up, some say we in Ontario live in the ugliest province but the richest one in Canada. Toronto has many things to do like stores to shop in, CN tower - you gotta go there its the tallest free standing structure in the world ( you can then say you were on top of the world literally). Ottawa has nothing really great about it (Ottawa guys on form are gonna get me for saying that). Its an ok city but not much beyond a few old historial structures.

For sure visit Toronto CN tower - tallest building in the world - usally planes from Europe stop at Perason International airport any how before going to Western Canada any how. You can maybe spend a day there. But if you wanna see nature and wild animals like Moose etc then go to British Columbia, if you wanna see Canadian cowboys go to Alberta. Also Toronto has a huge theme park - Canada's wonder land - also very popular with German tourists I know cause I met a few this summer there as well, and they liked it.

If you need more info then ask.. Problem with Canada is its so darn big and beautiful that its hard to decide where to go. It would take years to see all of Canada.

Either Montreal (Qc) or Tofino (BC) if you want to party. Everything else in between is booooring! ;)

And we are no more anti-americans than the rest of Canada. In the summer, Montreal is bustling with American tourists (in part for the reasons Jack mentioned): drinking age: 18 and we have by far the prettiest girls in Canada :P

In fact, I find the french-canadians much less anti-americans because since we have a distinct culture and language, we don't alway feel the need to dissociate ourselves from our southern neighbors. I've been in TO, Kingston, BC and all the Atlantic provinces, including Newfoundland. Now don't tell me these guys want to be part of Canada. In 1949, almost half the population voted in favor of secession and they are still much bitter about staying in Canada...

The Tiern'an og (sp?) Irish pub in Kingston is awesome. And their lamb stew is delicious.

Yeah i know the one your talking about. Its got a pic of a dancing half goat half man above the door right? I never went there, being a Queens student I go to student bars, mainly the ones I mentioned, since atomosphere is more suited for students and the bars are not too far from campus.

No im not. I actually originally wanted to go to RMC but it turned out I can't hear too well in my right ear at 4 000 herts, and I failed to pass the Canadian military medical exam. I can't even be a cook. ****. I had the marks, passed the running and others tests only to be kept back cause of a dumb hearing problem at a really low frequency 4000 herts ****. So, no I am not in the reserve but not by choice. So I went to Queens instead same city, as good if not better education, best in Canada.

I recommend the West Coast cause it is really beautiful. Banff or Jasper are nice but generally very busy and touristy. Calgary can be fun. I recommend Edmonton cause I live there.

I have heard Montreal is quite fun, but I have not, as of yet, been out East.

I guess it really depends on what you want. As you can see it's big place and like anywhere people from the different regions are rather proud of their homes.

Each area has something to offer. Toronto is the most multi cultural city in the world and the 3rd largest centre for English speaking live theatre after London and NYC. Montral and Quebec city offer a bit of old world European charm as does St. John's Newfoundland which also has the largest number of drinking establishments per capita of any city in North America. Halifax is second on that list and one the best party cities around. vancouver is well you have to live there to appreciate it.

The Rockies are spectacular, as are the prairies in their own way. for the adventurous you can go north of 60 into the territories.

maybe post some specifics of what you want, history, culture, partying, good coffee and donuts, and I'm sure there's plenty here who'll answer.

You can also try the boards at lonely planet. excellent advice there.

Wander about Montreal exclaiming "Tabernac" whilst wearing a mullet and driving a camaro. Sing Loverboy tunes at high volume and when in public roll up the sleeve's on your black BTO T shirt in conjunction with talking about how Rocket Richard was a huge pussy and Guy LaFleur was highly overrated and the Mahovolich brothers are so gay. You'll fit right in.

Quebec city is absolutely beautiful, the only problem is the peoples attitude. A good joke on the Ontario side (I'm sure ppl in other provinces heard it too but...)
"Why wasn't Jesus born in Quebec???
Cause they couldn't find a virgin and 3 wise men." rofl
