NOVELTY pig calendars and toys have been banned from a council office -- in case they offend Muslim staff.
Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

Is it really a victory for "tolerance" to say that a council worker cannot have a Piglet coffee mug on her desk? And isn't an ability to turn a blind eye to animated piglets the very least the West is entitled to expect from its Muslim citizens? If Islam cannot "co-exist" even with Pooh or the abstract swirl on a Burger King ice-cream, how likely is it that it can co-exist with the more basic principles of a pluralist society? As A A Milne almost said: "They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace/ Her Majesty's Law is replaced by Allah's."

In the Spirit of Ramadan and tolerance. I will right a letter to ask permissioin to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for me to build a church here in Saudi Arabia.
Since Muslims are indeed tolerant I believe they will give me the building permit by 2030.

Christianinty will just florish in the middle east after the hardliner fanic Wahabbis and fundamentalist are gone. Then comes a reign of peace. We might get to see the two holy mosque turn into Cathedrals for the Orthodox Church. If not one will be a version of the Basilica in the Middle East.

The Incident with the pig is ****in idiotic. My muslim classmates were petting pigs in a petting zoo during primary and my buddy makes pizza out of them(the pigs not the children). As long as they are not supposed to eat them, pigs are fine...

For real, this sh*t has got to stop. I don't care how they feel or what they think. They need to sort their sorry excuse of a religion if they want to be welcome around here.
Heck, there's a frickin satanist store a few blocks away from my flat, with all the gimmicks, including defaced crucifix. You don't see Christians going nuts over it.
First the ice cream cone, now Piglet. It only gets better.
I don't get it. Many of them left their countries because of intolerance (or so I hear) and first thing we know, they bring their intolerance to us. Because it's intolerance we're seeing here, not sensitivities.
And I'm not going nuts over this, I know it's only an isolated incident and will not bring about the end of our civilization just about yet.
But intolerance breeds intolerance, and these people are not making a good situation for themselves. I had everything as neighbors, black, hassidic Jews, you name it, and I never gave it a second thought.
But when I hear sh*t like that, it gives me unholy thoughts.

come on banning piglet (and pig related toys) is ridiculous, eating ham is in our culture, that includes the british. Next will be the ban on alcohol, or kissing in public. This is really stupid.
The goverment allows this not because of the PC bull****, but to get the muslim votes, they don't dive a damn about our (''white'') heritage, and will give money to build mosques if it brings them more votes and contribution$.

Lets stand up for the democracy we claim to hold so dear, and force our out-of-touch government to recognise and start respecting the British non-Muslim majority. I am immensly offended by the appeasement of Muslims in this country. I'm not keen on any religion, but this just goes to show how dangerous Islam is; it manages to creep into all aspects of government, national and local, at every level. There is no separation of religion and state in Islam. Surely we can all get together and say Muslims are offending us, and demand that local authorities remove all traces of Islam from their offices?

Para - couldn't have said it better. My home town is chock full of that sort of thing. They talk about how, "enlightened" they are - "we love all kinds of varying view points" - well, as long as you think like they do.
Case in point: There was a religious commune group that moved to the city. At first the buzz was, "oh, it brings diversity to the community". That turned to, "they'll be trying to change the status quo! They're a cult! They should be banned!" when it turned out they were a CONSERVATIVE Christian religious group and not some "unwed, pregnant, Indian, lesbian, single mothers against nuclear energy" sort of group.
im a muslim and i feel offended by the action taken because it shows ignorance. Who said a pig would offend me? Just because muslims dont eat pig doesnt mean it offends us. Muslims dont eat certain birds are they gonna hide those too?

^Smartest guy, so far. Come to think of it, one of my Palestinian friends back in college, and a Muslim at that, ate pork at a barbeque. When we asked if it went against his religion, he actually said "I don't want to offend anybody by refusing it."

Firstly I'm not trying to win friends; I'm trying to highlight a very real problem; a problem that demands very real action. Secondly I'm not saying remove Muslims from public office, I'm saying remove symbols of Islam from public offices. Religion should have NO place in a secular government system.

Well my friend you have experienced nothing until you have tried a pig cooked at a Tongan get together!
We had several Tongan friends when living in NZ and always went to their family functions! :D There would always be heaps of pigs at these get togethers and the best part was after stuffing myself like a pig I could then take heaps home, enough to last me until the next family get together! :D
