Reviews for DF:BHD and Raven Shield for PC

Got my copies for DF:Black Hawk Down and Rainbow Six 3, both for PC. Thing is I can't play them right now. Anybody here played both games and can say how they rate in fun factor?

Just got Raven Shield. already completed BHD. I am busy with the multiplayer version of BF1942's Desert Combat mod. If you have BF1942 and have not yet installed and played Desert Combat, you should. It is a modern day U.S. vs. Iraq.

Some of the maps even have the AC130H Spectre. It is a lot of fun to fire the M102 105mm Howitzer from the gunship if you can find a buddy who can fly the thing and keep the target area on the port side with the wing tipped just right.

I've been playing a bit of DF:BHD. It's pretty fun, but there are some negatives. Most missions are very fast-paced, more like Doom than Rainbow Six. The missions tend to be very static (you know that the guy with the RPG will always be immediately behind the first building on the left, etc...). The missions that I've done so far (6-7 or so) aren't historically based.

That said, it does have some cool stuff, like the ability to go cyclic on .50 cals and Blackhawk mini guns, plus sniping from the seats on a Little Bird. Had a lot of fun defending a bridgehead with a .50 cal against oncoming technicals. Couldn't see squat, the muzzleflash was blocking out most of my NODs, just turned the speakers up and unloaded.

I haven't had a chance to play multi-player yet.

Been playin a little Raven Shield Multiplayer.

Compared to Ghost Recon, Gun Recoil is much more realistic,
you can put a scope on almost all weapons,

enemy AI death animations and reaction to gunfire not as fun as GR,

Tangoes luv to throw frags in RS!

Sound effects are much better than GR.
Still Luv Ghost Recon tho.

Darn, think I need a new 'puter to play Raven Shield. I'm still just playing with Rogue Spear: Urban Ops/Covert Ops. Getting on a bit but great considering its age.

I REALLY want Raven Shield though. Maybe I'll settle with borrowing Ghost Recon from my buddy...

They both rule.

Raven Shield especially. Nothing is better than sayin "Charlie Go go go" and entering a room with 2 other teams entering with you and, smoke filling the room, bodies and blood all over the walls. It rules. If you aren't into planning though, the default plans kick ass.


BHD was fun but it was too short.

Ah but it's the planning bit that makes these games great!

I love the way you can play Rogue Spear in a fairly realistic way. The fast aggressive player is usually rewarded as long as he keeps thinking tactical.
