BEIRUT, Lebanon - Hezbollah will kidnap more Israelis to secure the release of Lebanese prisoners, if necessary, the militant movement's leader warned Thursday.

Speaking at a mass rally to welcome 21 Lebanese prisoners freed by Israel hours earlier, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said his guerrillas could capture more Israelis to bargain for the freedom of Lebanese still held in Israeli prisons.
Turning to a huge poster of a guerrilla ambush in which three Israeli soldiers were captured in October 2000, Nasrallah said: "This is a choice."
The soldiers bodies were part of the major exchange of prisoners and remains of fighters that was effected between Israel and Hezbollah on Thursday through German mediation.

If they do abduct Israelis or make a attempt, then bomb the hell out of the Hezbollah base in Southern Beirut.
Israel shouldnt negotiate with them :(
but if they start kidnapping then they have no choice

the thing is...they have no bases. Unlike the PLO who used to be in lebanon.
As for abductions, they said they will do that if israel does not follow with the part 2 of the plan.

The terrorist Samir Kuntar should not be released.
[quote]As for abductions, they said they will do that if israel does not follow with the part 2 of the plan.
Israel said that none of them will be released, and they ended up releasing them.
They were given a choice to either leave behind kuntar or obeid. They chose to leave kuntar behind and will do a trade for information regarding ron arad. There are also 4 IDF bodies that were gone missing in lebanon back in the 80's or 90's.
So wether you say cease to exist or not the deal will continue (as israel said).
In my honest opinion,i think that the israeli's brought this upon themselves. They should not have participated in that prisoner exchange because now these hizi guys would begin to kidnap left right center.I have always admired Israel for their hardline posture and i hope that posture does not crack.

Israel kidnapped 2 people - both held the Israeli pilot and were kidnapped in order to find out where is he.
All the other prisoners weren't kidnapped - they were all POW's.

Probably because Hizbollah is in Lebenon. To wipe them out, the IDF would have to invade Lebenon (again.)

if they had bases the IAF would be bombing them, like they did to the PLO.

All the other prisoners weren't kidnapped - they were all POW's.
So that means the POWs were supposed to return after the withdrawl. Well thats what countries do after they withdraw, exchange prisoners.
Israel kept the 2 kidnapped lebanese for 10/14 years and they didn't get any info on arad. I mean if they didn't get any info under interrogation in the first 2 or 3 years then technicaly they don;t know anything. Because if they did arad would be in israel right now.

I doubt if any of those Hezis released will be active in the field again.
If the rate of IRA operatives taking to the field again after long prison sentences is anything to go by.
Not that they won't continue working for hezbollah, but it will be more the community and moral sort of stuff for them I think. Not that they will be active recruiters for their organisation though.
As for Israel "giving in to terrorist demands" Prisoner exchange is always a horse trade sort of bussiness.
As for my rather dated experience of the IDF vs. Hezbollah during the South Lebanon security zone days, the Israelis appeared to suffer from some measure of "bunker mentality".
There had been some instances of Hezbollah fighters blowing themselves up among Israeli soldiers on patrols, and after that it appears the Israelis cut down on patrols in order to cut losses.
Personaly I don't think hezbollah is 10 feet tall.
It's a common misconception that "fanatics" ain't afraid of death. In reality depends on the way you hand it to them.
If it's generaly handed them in a way that ensure either that they get a big and "honourable" funeral or demonstration afterwards, and/or they are able to take some of "the enemy" with them, such people will be quite motivated to "blow themselves".
If on the other hand you can hand them "the rites" on a regular basis in a way that they don't expect, and which makes their peers unable to mourn them en masse, even such people can be made jumpy.
Though achieving this in practice isn't easy. Especialy as South-Lebanon is good tracking country, with a mostly hostile civilian population, sparse cover /open terrain, quite dotted with villages, and with lots of half wild dogs sniffin around.
