V8s.....possibly the worst form of motor racing in the world....boring....they all run the same engine parts on all platforms....make the rules to preclude a proper V8 (skyline days etc...) and basically it is like watching paint dry....

but sayuing this....might head across to the race in Shanghai this year....

The V8 is the best engine configuration for racing in the world. Those Australian race cars are running ford 5.0s and Chevy 5.7 LS1s. Also, the Skyline had an inline 6 cylinder engine. The new version will have a V6.

No both cars run 5ltr V8's rev limited to 7500rpm. Produces around 650BHP

No other cars run.

Only Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons.

Did they destroke the Commodores. In stock configuration they use either the 5.7LS1 or the 5.7LS2.

I thought LMP's were the fastest non-open wheel cars.

Has the shootout started yet in Aus? Because we don't get to see it live, they play it at midnight over here. :( I don't even think the actual race is live. :(

you cant get 5lt commonwhores.....since the VT sII......pretty soon no 5.7lt with the new LS2....

if they are Holdens and Fords....why they all run a FORD diff?

Why dont they allow a real variation of cars and companys liek they used to in the original bathursts instead of this ****t aussie crap fests with holden and ford...oh thats right when they allow smaller cars with a smaller capicity they get flogged eg ford sierra, nissan skylines...remember that?

The rules state the cars must be based on 100% australian designed and built cars.

thus....the competition is not a open competition....if they want to have these rules....good on them....but it is all because Ford and Holden dont want the public to know the cars they run will get owned....thus reducing car sales...

Piss off idiot.

It's an AUSTRALIAN series. Hence why only AUSTRALIAN cars are involved. Both Toyota and Mistibishi will be soon joining the series using their Australian designed and built cars. So you know.

Show me how a holden is an australian car... where is the engine from? the transmission? the diff? all the electronics? the only thing australian about a holden is the shell which is european styling of course hmmm... i guess that leaves the name.
None the less they will change the legistlations to handicap the mitsu and the toyota because its not aussie enough and real aussies will piss and moan about "jap crap" and then go and beat there wives.

Oh **** off catalyst... I think communist China has rotted your pathetic little brain. I have no problem with what it is now and guarantee I would not watch it if they brought it back to what it was in the old days.

Its good the way it is. Perhaps if toyota or mitsubishi made a V8 sedan then they could compete in there, they dont as yet so shut up.

They have other races for other types of cars, its not the V8 supercars because they like the sound of it. its because only V8s can drive in it.

oh and by the way, in the 24 hour bathurst race you can run any type of car you want. But what? a holden has won the last few years. hmm fancy that.

so how was the race....didnt get to see it from here....

as a race.....it is nice, close and even.....but as a series....i dont like the format....

cant wait to see a mitsubishi 380 with a ford v8 in it....having a go for the crown....
