Here's a link to photos and video of the annual "Mock Prison Riot" . It's a combination SWAT competiton, riot control exercise, and class for corrections and law enforcement.

The two times I've been scheduled to attend something came up. The first time I got dropped becuase they cut our budget :fork:, the second time I was deployed with my National Guard unit  . Oh well.

Are you a CO? I've been with the Minnesota DOC for four years. I was on the Faribault SORT, but I just transferred to the supermax at Oak Park Heights.

I used to work for the VA DOC and was a member of the Eastern Region Strike Force (DCU- riot ontrol, and Tactical Support Unit -SWAT). I then went to work for a private firm that provides SWAT, riot control, less lethal, and specialty firearms training for correctional facilities, sheriff's, jails, etc..

I'm currently working at one of aour MANY local jails (which is also a combo juvenile detention center, satallite court house, and magistrate's office). I still work for the training firm on a part time basis though.

The main difference between the Jail and DOC is is that at the jail we have to complete the sheriff's academy and become sworn law enforcement officers, at DOC only K-9, criminal investigators, POs, and internal affairs had arrest auhtority. The only reason K-9 officers had it was becuase they were certified as law enforcement officers by the state due to the fact that they had to complete a Police K-9 course (an additional 12 weeks of training) for certification.
