these new f-16s look intersting. i wonder what that long fuel tank looking thing on the top side of the fuselage is...anyone got answers? seems like there are some f-18 exterior design put into it too

"Conformals" - The fuel "tanks' sit on each side of the dorsal portion of wing.Each with approx. 200-250 gal.
With 2x - 370 gal. wing externals, 1x - 250 gal?(if i remember) in the centerline and the 2x wing top conformals - extends the F-16 range tremendously.
FWIW - F-15s have similiar "conformals fuel bladders/tanks" as well.

He's talking about the F-16I that was recently shipped to Israel. It's additional fast packs give it the distance to reach targets in Iran and Syria.

FWIW/FYI - the F-16I - has a been around since the 80's, it has a few more "things" onboard than some U.S. a/c have. Outstanding platform - however due to its "loading"- exterior it does have a limted dog-fight ability. However- there are other methods for a experienced pilot to E&E.

what is the use... Iran has Russian S-300s how on earth a F-16 can get close to the possible targets in Iran?
