TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson and Sunday Times restaurant and television reviewer, AA Gill, were given full VIP protection when they visited British Forces in Baghdad.
The terrified Top Gear frontman spoke glowingly of his whirlwind experience visiting British troops in Iraq. Close support protection was provided by soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Royal Irish along the infamous 'Route Irish' that runs from Baghdad's International Airport to the International Zone.
Undaunted by their experience, Clarkson and Gill, whose tour of Baghdad included a visit to Saddam Hussein's nuclear bunker, craved further excitement. The pair asked for a demonstration of a 'worst case scenario' and Sergeant Nigel Fell and his team duly obliged by using Clarkson to demonstrate a VIP extraction.
