in Sweden, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. In Stockholm
there is 29 horses at the K1 regiment together with the military
and their horses.

The vast majority of UK police forces have long since disbanded their Mounted Sections. Those pictures of UK mounted police are all rather old. As far as I know, the Met in London is the only force in the whole of the southern UK to have a Mounted Section. Nottinghamshire is the only force in the midlands to have one, and Greater Manchester is the only force in the north west.

In my experience police horses are a liability and are of very limited use operationally, they normally require officers on foot to protect the riders from being pulled off. Those officers on foot are exposed to additional danger as the horses can turn too quickly or kick out and hit them by accident.

Funny quote overheard during the Miner's Strike, from a conversation between a rioter and an attractive mounted policewoman on her horse.

Rioter : "Why is your horse foaming at the mouth?"

Policewoman : "You'd be foaming at the mouth if you'd been sat between my legs for eight hours!"
