I thought the troops were only there to protect American civilians? Never heard of an American peacekeeping force being really deployed, although the US-government thought about it,

Em yeah...........to get US citizens out, then they left. If you want to thank someone for keeping the peace there now, thank the Swedes, Irish and a dozen or so African countries.

Itīs said that this particlar rather new Iranian version of the RPG-7v is quite accurate (note different type of sight than used on the Soviet/Russian version). Although aiming seems to be uncool or something in Liberia. I also see a lot of Serbian weapons that I assume was exported quite recently (considering that they had an embargo on them during the 1990īs).

lol that sentence just cracked me up

being that Liberia was founded by former American slaves, it's too bad we didn't pay more attention to them over the years

I'd say that the only really useful way of helping Africa would be to re-colonize most of the continent again.

"thank god bush sent troops there"
I'm not even going to reply to that statement.
I am a bit disappaointed in the Western World as a whole for not taking the bull by the horns in Africa (that does not mean deploying troops). It seems like a lot of the problems in Africa seem to go unoticed by the public like the Liberia war and the Genocide in Sudan (Didn't Iraq also have military bases there?). I think part of the reason for this is that Africa is just so screwy to begin with that no one quite knows where to start, and the last few major attempts to stabilize the region (Somalia 1993 and the Belgians in Rwanda) ended up as such nightmares. Sad stuff.
Thanks for the photos, those kids are something else, can you even imagine kids fighting at age 11. Yet again Sad stuff.
But on a less depressing note (well not much) does anyone know the type of AK varient the kid with the tie is carrying?

Hmmmmm because we'd be being "World Police" again?
Most of those AK's are Yugoslavian's. I don't know about the one you specified because I am too lazy to look at it again.

It's Europe's mess, you guys can fix it.
You are the ones that cut up the tribal boundaries, you fix it.
Most of those countries need to be ripped apart and rebuilt. And in most of those countries you will need to kill off a lot of that countries leaders and some of the people. Morons seem to breed other morons.
One big **** storm that can only fix it's self.
I am content with letting them win races in the Olympics. Other than that, I can honestly say, I don't give a damn.

the americans just killed them all in their country (indians)..and spend a poor 0.8 percent of the annual budget of the States in Africa..

An argument like that won't get you anywhere dude, to be honest. What does killing Native Americans (which as far as I know didn't have their roots in Africa, although I may be wrong) have to do with the aid that's donated to Africa and the current status of the continent? How much money they spend on something is completely up to them, just leave it be.

And they whine for another 300 years? No thank you. Let that ****hole consume itself from disease and war.

That would presuppose that 'all' of the continent's problems are due to tribal boundaries not reflecting national boundaries.
The US had an equal part in the proxy power games and conflicts that the West played against the Soviets during the Cold War. None of our nations are blame free here.

It reminds me of when the SAS had to go in a few years ago to get those soldiers captured by the West Side Boys.
I was reading an account by one of the soldiers, he said one of the hardest things to hit him before going in on the rescue mission was the realisation that he might have to kill child soldiers.
