Here are some pics I took of the USSOCOM Parachute Team last Saturday, Jan. 31. in Tampa. The parachute team jumped into the Gasparilla Childrens Parade through a smoke ring laid out by the Red Barron flying team.
I used a Canon EOS digital rebel with a 75-300 mm lense. Like an idiot I didn't bring the short lense, so naturally the USSOCOM parachute team shows up at the airport. I shot the pics of them inside the building while standing like 30 feet away to try to get them in frame.
It was a rainy crappy day, and we were pretty far away from alot of the action, and I was shooting through rain covered glass, so sorry for the grainy shots. I figured I'd share some pics of the event. So here goes.

Col. Al Vernon, left, and Lt. Col Pete Davis, middle, both of the U.S. Army prepare at Peter O. Knight airport with Lt. Rick Holman, right, of the U.S. Navy for their jump.

I wasn't kidding about it being gray and crappy. It was like the worst weather we've had here all month.

One of the Red Barrons flying in a circle to put the smoke ring out. I couldn't get the smoke ring all in one shot because of our angle.

OK, so this picture really sucks, but I wanted you to see the landing area. Basically this is Bayshore Boulevard, and its bounded on one side by houses and trees, and on the other by Tampa Bay. The road is 4 lanes, wind was like 10 mph, but was steady. Incidentally I think the pilot that flew the jump plane was Australian, don't remember her name though. There are people from everywhere down at MacDill right now. I see these guys from the ROK army at a restauraunt all the time, and I saw a Norwegian at the Chevy dealership the other day. Maybe I'll ask the ROK guys if I can get a pic later on. They look like they could kick your butt without even vaguely trying. Hardcore.
Some other stuff.

There was also a flyover by this classic bomber. A B-25? dunno. If somebody knows chime in with the ID of this plane.
