The Rav Is just about the best vest on the market. The armor inserts are para and its very light weight. The RAV has been around before MOLLIE & Spear. It was the first. The Price is high but i think im going to pick one up! I just posted the question to see if any one has really used one! Thanks talk soon!

Aside from www.paracletearmor.com (http://www.paracletearmor.com) have you found any other websites with good info on the vest?

The USMC's FSBE I and FSBE II are based off the RAV design. Too bad they're not nearly as well designed -- the "quick" release on the FSBE vests are a joke.

The owner of Paraclete, incidentally, is the creator of the PALS attachment (although Natick will may disagree -- long story). The SOF retention straps on the RAV pouches are *great*. PALS attachment snaps tend to come loose, the way the new Paraclete SOF retention straps are designed eliminate any possibility of the pouches coming off. And I really like the "smoke-green" (I guess you could say it's the sage green that's been used on flightsuits for years now) color better than OD.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to use FSBE, Interceptor, or SPEAR BALCS if they have the option of using the RAV.

I think Paraclete makes this rucksack i saw on that webpage lightfighter, it was like $1,000. DAMN

The rucksack that you saw was the Paraclete TIMS ruck. The features alone on this pack are worth the price. Interchangeble zip off panels. The patrol pack is kept under the flap. The build quality of Paraclete is just as good if not better than Eagle, TT, and maybe just SOE. The RAV is I would say the best combat body armor on the market now. The attachment system as stated above was stolen by Natick and is way better than any MOLLE, FSBE, etc. ****. This stuff is the real deal

That is one expensive vest! Does it hold ceramic level-III A plates by any chance? Is the second one still $670?

What do military personnel(infantry/sf) think about this? A navy SEAL is wearing one here:

What makes this vest better than the MOLLE/SPEAR systems?

adambalhetchet, this is not a paraclete RAV on that pic. That's an armor plate carrier made by an other company. however, the pouches look like paraclete's ones
Good thing about paraclete gears is that they have an all-in-one design with a lot of additional features and a ton of optional pouches. and you don't have a quick release feature on the interceptor or the BALCS..

Paraclete makes good stuff no doubt. They do have issues like any company as well. They had a whole slew of vest needed to be sent back because the front zipper was ripping apart. They fixed them up for free but guys were down without their kit for a while. Every good modern vest ripped off Paraclete to some extent.

I had a FSBE II for a while and liked it. Had no issues at all except the release was ghetto and in a stupid place. Build was not as quality as Paraclete but what do you expect at 1/6th the cost. The "cut" was the best I have felt as it was a bit narrower in the chest and didn't have to "pec squeeze" when shooting pistol like on some of the wider vests.

Now running with a CIRAS maritime (Eagle) and it is good to go IMHO. Well made and in Coyote. Not set up for side plates so that is an issue in some places.
