I love you. Might I ask where those pictures came form? I'm doing a science fair project on Optical Camouflage.

Nice pics... I spot 4 for sure in the last pic... Possible 5... Looks like another guy in the bush right to the left of the soldier on the right... Hiding in the bush.. But he looks kind of small...
Yup it works. Makes you forget the dilapedated condition of the armed forces ;)

I go to school here in Kingston Canada and when one of the RMC cadets walks to one on the classes here on my campus and they go behind something green at 75m away I lose them. Its crazy. In this one little park area we have its sometimes so bloody had to see them when they are behind the big ever green tree. Very cool stuff.

i gotta say its a good combat, but after a wile, it becomes white.
Um, wouldn't it be hard to see anyone behind a tree?

I love this camo but it only serves as a good positive camo! So its better for defencive purposes or for sniper. I prefere the USMC marpat or flectarn as they serve a more negative camo aspect. Just my opinion.

no not behind a tree :cantbeli: When the tree is behind them a maple tree that is, the reason being that on one side its dark green on other its lime greenish and that blends in very well with cadpat from a distance up close its easy to spot them.

Some armies are alittle bit too obsessed with camo, and Canadian army is definitely one of them.
Eh, well, if it makes them feel cool - why not? ;)

..Why are we obsessed with Cadpat, becuase it Works...
Under specific circumstances - probably yes. Under many others - definitely no. And it sure isn't worth the money poured into it, considering the general lack of it in Canadian army. Of course, all this doesn't matter that much, and that's why I like Canada. :)
AND LOOKS KOOL.
That is a VERY dangerous criteria for choosing military equipment. :(

ExtraT: I wear Cadpat for a living. :-) I know it works. :-) I dont think it's a waste of money. Standing in the woods with OD green, and one could see you, Cadpat, maby your face and hands. I'll never go back to OD green combats.
CF picked cadpat, becuase it works. Just happens to look cool. I dont totally agree on everything cadpat. So far my Vest, pants/shirt, boonie cap, and helmet is cadpat. Plus they making gloves, touqes, BOOTS, CADPAT now.
Under specific circumstances - probably yes. Under many others - definitely no.
FIBUA maby, becuase alot of Grey ETC, Dessert NO, but most trainning is Open fields grass ETC, Look at Canada, Toooo many trees.
Royal: Nope personal prefence, What ever glove you want to wear, wear it. I use Contact Gloves, Nomex Flight Gloves.
stuntman: if it wasn't for us Canadians, We wouldn't sold you the Design for the marpat LOL.
But the Cadpat Design been around for years, Look at the germans in WW2, They had a fourm of cadpat.
CADPAT = Canadian Disruptive pattern.

Hillbilly he was saying painting the rifle CADPAT was a waste of money not the uniform.
We sold the US the technique to make digital camo we did not design the MARPAT pattern.
German camoflage is called FLecktarn and it's not digital.

Yes, German camo is not digital, but the basics of it are the same as CADPAT. Small blotches, in a number of diffrent shades. Look at the various Waffen SS camo patterns from WWII, such as Oak A pattern.
WWII German Oak A pattern:

stuntman: if it wasn't for us Canadians, We wouldn't sold you the Design for the marpat LOL.
And if it wasn't for us you wouldn't have your m16 clone, or if it wasn't for our (I think) AR10 floating bolt design the Germans wouldn't have a g36? Look I'm not into that!
Hey don't get me wrong I love this cadpat stuff I paintball with tigerstripe top, and cadpat surplus bottom. And no one cares about the tigerstripe, all they say is "thats cool pants" So trust me I love the stuff! BUt since it is a positive camo to tell you the truth it actually turns a darker color when around woodland instead of like the USMC's camo which turns more brown. On the other hand if your in a grassy or jungle area marpat tends to turn more green.

HERES MY BEEF!
wtf is the CF planning for when we have winter/desert/urban exercises/ops
most of us have seen the c7a2 or a1's accessorized in cadpat or od
and a few of us saw Chretien's security in A-Stan (don't know who the operators were) with some variant of a beige C8?
I'm all for a standardized army but c'mon
they are cadpating the poly-pro, tshirts, underwear
all this money could be spent on recruiting, training, operations, or creating a commission to get rid of the bureaucrats and heavy top end and lack of funding in the cf.
I think the CF in all honesty has to follow the acronym we're all taught.
K.I.S.S.
camoflauging the weapons simply makes them seasonal... not very cost effective
all this R/D and not enough products hitting the regiments.
For crying out loud, in my unit, the guy sleeping with the Q is still wearing olive drab.

WE have winter tops and bottoms. Big baggy white garbage bags. Additionaly, we have a new airid cadpat

K.I.S.S.( Keep it super simple heh, with what? The olive drab green uniform? Its no doubt we needed an effective camo, and hey, we have best design in the world now, dont compain)
camoflauging the weapons simply makes them seasonal... not very cost effective
( they can easily be repainted as the terrain dictates, not expensive)
all this R/D and not enough products hitting the regiments.(Cadpat is not to blame, that is the fault of the CF and a lack of funding concern by the federal goverment) I know of many more wasted Cf endavours, and Cadpat is not one of them.
For crying out loud, in my unit, the guy sleeping with the Q is still wearing olive drab.

Which has nothing to do with the supposed effectiveness of CADPAT. The picture is of low resolution, poor quality, and was obviously edited to increase the effect.

I've seen CADPAT in person. The image is not edited to increase the effect, nor is it of poor quality. CADPAT IS effective. I don't know what the hell your problem is, but get over it. The brightness of the image MAY have been adjusted, but that's all. Look at the other pics, you can plainly see how effective CADPAT is, even without that last pic. And you'll never truely see how effective it is until you try to spot a CADPAT clad soldier in a forest at night with Night Vision.
