Hey howdy hey!
Thank you all for the thoughts about this. I consider myself an "unconventional" Christian as well...hehe. I beleive whole heartedly in the 10 commandments as long as they are thought of in the proper way...for example.
I used to think that the 10 commandments was what I kept to go to Heaven...I would almost go so far as to say that in many instances, this is what I was taught in "church".
I also used to think that people in the old testament were "saved" by making the sacrifices proscribed in the Law...
It was about five years ago when I went to a mens conference in Bowling Green Kentucky and heard a speaker say this...(paraphrase)...the law was given to make people sin more.
I thought this guy was crazy. I knew God hated sin so why would He give something to make sin increase.
That started me on a search that has lead to some unexpected conclusions.
If my main problem was who I was instead of just what I had done, then it makes perfect sense that God would give a "law" that points out to me how often I choose to sin, thereby leading me to say...Help!
Anyone else been down this trail of thought?
