Hey howdy hey!

Thank you all for the thoughts about this. I consider myself an "unconventional" Christian as well...hehe. I beleive whole heartedly in the 10 commandments as long as they are thought of in the proper way...for example.

I used to think that the 10 commandments was what I kept to go to Heaven...I would almost go so far as to say that in many instances, this is what I was taught in "church".

I also used to think that people in the old testament were "saved" by making the sacrifices proscribed in the Law...

It was about five years ago when I went to a mens conference in Bowling Green Kentucky and heard a speaker say this...(paraphrase)...the law was given to make people sin more.

I thought this guy was crazy. I knew God hated sin so why would He give something to make sin increase.

That started me on a search that has lead to some unexpected conclusions.

If my main problem was who I was instead of just what I had done, then it makes perfect sense that God would give a "law" that points out to me how often I choose to sin, thereby leading me to say...Help!

Anyone else been down this trail of thought?

Not me...

The Bible is (ostensibly) the word of God, but it was written by men, and it was written a long time ago. I tend to be skeptical about things written by people, especially when other people wave said document at me and tell me how bad I am. I don't have a very high opinion of organized religion.

If people don't know that murder and stealing are wrong BEFORE they read it in the Books of Exodus and Deuteronomy, I don't think there's much hope for them with or without organized religion.

And some of the Commandments are just wack. I don't see how abstaining from work on the Sabbath makes someone a more ethical person. Does this mean that emergency room workers and soldiers who do their job seven days a week are BAD PEOPLE?! I think not.

To answer your question: It definitely wouldn't hurt!

I agree about Sundays...I am too busy to just sit down and relax.

The two greatest commandments that God has given are: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself. But righteousness does not come from works, or from what you do on earth, because that will always be inadequate. righteousness and salvation come from trusting your soul to Jesus and asking for forgiveness.

Option 3; I don't believe there's a god in the first place, so why care what some commandments would do to someone you don't believe in?

Actually I don't care a **** about the 10 commandments.

I don't need a black book to tell me to behave.

I don't need black dressed people to tell me how to behave.

And I don't want people with nice hair cuts on my door to tell me how to live my life.

Be a christian.
Be a muslim.
Be a hindu.
Be a buddhist.
Be whatever you want.

I be me.
