Canada, lol.
If anyone goes to Portland, Oregon you'll notice that many of the street names will sound familiar, since Groening grew up in Portland, he uses a lot of the names in the show.

Homer Simpson is based off of Matt Groenings father who is from Winnipeg. The city of Winnipeg made Homer an honourary citizen about a year and a half ago. I believe i posted the story on it here at the time.
