What's the difference between royal marines and royal marine commandos?
I have already told you guys about these two. Andy **** and Inego Montoya went to Astan to kick some Taliban butt and some lucky journalist got the scoop. ;)

Strictly speaking these guys are gunners from 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery (members of the Army).
What's the difference between royal marines and royal marine commandos?
All Royal Marines (except members of the Band Service and recruits under training) are Commando's.

I have a quesyion about the Royal Marines . What is the training course , and what is exactly the Royal marine commando . Is it consist only from naval infantry , or also support units , like aircraft detachments , in short USMC model ? (If arty unit isn't part of Royal marines , then i understand it's only the naval infantry called like that ) .

The training is 26 weeks for other ranks and 49 weeks for officers (assuming no injuries). Royal Marines are first and foremost naval infantry, although some support roles are integral to the Corps. We have our own pilots (fixed wing and rotary) although they operate with Royal Navy squadrons. Landing Craft and small raiding boats/hovercraft are also integral.
The Special Boat Service came under HQTRSFRM (as well as DSF) although it looks like MoD are trying to separate it from the Corps.
3 Commado Brigade has it's own integral logistic regiment (part RM, part Army), Gunner and Engineer regiments (Army) and infantry (40, 42 & 45 Commando's). Other assets are attached as required.

Since when were NVG's only for shooting?

First of all , Laser designator are for commanders . Second , you can designate targets very well without the LPL . NVG don't have to come with LPL , it's just another control meassure .

26 weeks for marksman , that's something like 6 month . That's sounds pretty small number for a marine soldier , can you ellaborate please the training stages the trainies pass to become marine ?

Royal, what rank are you? if you don't mind me asking..
Good question!

RM Recruit training has been 30 weeks for as long as most serving guys would remember - certainly the last 20 years or so. It may increase in future as new weapons, skills and equipment come on line. It (the RM) differs from the USMC in that it only puts a Brigade in the field, rather than several Divisions. Ethos, values and core skills are broadly similar.
And HQTRSFRM went out in the early nineties.

Anyone here ever played SplinterCell- The main character is a black ops operative called Sam Fisher- and he is a spitting image of Bruce Willis...its actually scarry how similar they look.

Test week (in reality 2 weeks) & Kings Troop/Pass off make up the last 4 weeks at CTC, but training they ain't.

Which is what I said ;)

Good photos, but the SA80 sucks.
Ironic right?
Have you ever fired one? Or talked to the people operating them?
According to every single drunk ( :) ) RM I talked to during JOINT WINTER 2004, the SA80A2 works like a charm!
:)

Ha Ha, good backpedalling! That's the first time in 14 years I've heard it described that way! Training is training, and it's always described as 30 weeks. Why don't you knock off weekends while you're at it? Some clarification:
Test week (army term): Commando Tests (actually held during end of wk 23/start of wk 24 or thereabouts - not at the end of training). Throw in Final Exercise, which occurs about 4 weeks later and I'll agree it is about 13 days.
King's Troop (?): King's Squad.
Pass off (army term): Pass Out.
Weren't in a girl's Troop by any chance? Maybe that trauma affected your memory.
Hey Guttorm, if you managed to get drunk Bootnecks to say something complimentary about the A2, you're a better man than I! I agree wholeheartedly with you. Any snow in Norway this year? ;)

I can't tell you who the man on the left is without violating OPSEC and PERSEC.
The man on the right is obviously Gallagher.
