What the hell was all that about! This kid comes into this site cause he has a jones for tactical stuff and we blow him out! Did we over razz him or were some people really pissed about his sig? It sounds like instead of pointing the pup in the right direction, people here just chewed his ass for being enthusiastic.
My take is that he advertised some of his writing samples on his sig and some people didn’t like it. The sig I read seemed to portray an operator that has some self image issues. Is that really unrealistic? Men who have trained themselves to perform under ridiculous conditions and execute without remorse or question are not supposed to have some psychological issues to deal with? I understand that different levels of “operators” are chosen for different things, to include their mental toughness. I also understand that this kid didn’t really have a very good picture of what it means to operate at that level. What did you expect? He could very well have gone and posted at some video gamer’s forum.. he chose to come here though.
Maybe I don’t have the full picture of what went down… can anyone enlighten me?

I don't know what the hell happened. :|
I don't really know what his problem is...I mean, it's not like we went Adam on him. All criticism directed at him was all rather fair IMO. Maybe he's just pissed some of his bubbles got burst...

Guilty.
Did we burst his bubble? Maybe.
I don't know if he had delusions of serving in your armed forces, if he had and quits like this, he won't finish boot camp. If he didn't and just wanted to write pulp fiction, tough. There's enough crap written about 'operators' for a gullible public already.
I've got nothing against enthusiastic kids (I was one once), and I certainly don't expect people to faint in awe of my vast experience ;) , but I don't suffer fools gladly.
It's a character flaw of mine.

Huh, what kid?
Would somebody please tell me what happened? I never saw the signature.

Eagle1-1 is an aspiring writer as I understand. He is also a glassy-eyed, high school kid in JROTC or something, and likes to write about “operators.” His sig was a little blurb that seemed to depict an operator as slightly psychotic. This was a little offensive to some and when the criticism came he didn’t seem to react well. His initial “image” in here seemed to be that of a poser. So many of us took to razzing him about it as well as those that seemed quite upset about his controversial sig. It seemed to depict an inaccurate and negative image of a fictional “operator.” I wish I could post it for you but I don’t have it. I think the kids feelings got hurt but he says he is going to back of for a while and then come back and try again. I guess that is fair.
The sig in question:
"There are two words that an operator will never say...ever: Job, and quit. I do not have a job, I don't work 9-5. This is not a job, I don't do this for money. This is a life. I am an operator all day, every day, day in, and day out. There are no days off, there are no sick days. And I will never quit. I will never cease to haunt the thoughts and dreams of my enemy until I have achieved complete decimation.
Cotrolling their thoughts is not enough. I must control their world, their life. The purpose of my life is to end theirs. I am a hunter. I must breathe the tingle down their spine until they resort to complete confusion. And in my world, control spreads like a virus in the midst of chaos. They will run for their lives at the very mention of my name. My presence is chilling at the least. I will force them into submission, I will dominate. And I will win. I will win, or I will die. There is no third option."
Thanks to 11F5S' super duper quoting skills... ;)

That sounds like PsyOps to me, hahaha.
That didn't sound all too bad though.. maybe a bit too contrived, gung-ho, and "Coming on X-Box!" type.. but kid can write okay.

I didnt give a rats ass about his sig, what I said to him was that he should be enthusiasticly writing about women especially at 16. God knows in about 5-10 years he'll learn and wont be so enthusistic about them! :D

I'm truly sorry if my comments started the flurry of **** that sent the youngman packing.
His signature line was in quotation marks...I asked who or what the source of that quote was. How was I or anyone else to know that he had written it himself when it was in the form of a quotation.
That aside...if he is driven off so easily..then he really ought to find a new pastime. Perhaps he could tutor Jack Mehoff on elementary school level grammar. That would be a task as difficult as taking on SFAS.
Good luck Eagle1-1

Or tutor 115FS how to pleasure a woman properly so they won't leave you 3 times for younger studs. Now, that would be one hell of a task.

An old Mormon farmer from somewhere in the the Wasatch Mountains once told me that you can cut off a jackass' ear or shave his head but that won't change the fact that he's a jackass.

Nah, not your fault. Only reason I quoted you because people were asking about the sig and I remembered you quoted it once...

I don't wanna rain on anyones parade, but anyone can produce that kind of stuff when they put just the tiniest bit of effort in it... it's not exactely Shakespeare.
