The Buick's doors had been sealed to keep water out and it was powered by its original V-8 motor, said Eduardo Perez Grass, who was among those on the earlier attempt to reach the United States on the floating truck.
Okay, these guys converted a pickup truck into a motorboat and got most of the way to Florida before the Coast Guard caught them, sank their boat, and made them go back to Cuba. Now they've converted a Caddy into a motor boat and are going to try again.
My question is...WHY ON EARTH are we preventing this group from reaching the USA?! Seems to me these are the sorts of immigrants we should be ENCOURAGING:
*They're wicked smart. How many people here could turn a pickup truck into a seaworthy motor boat? Thought so.
*They've got massive work ethics. They're working a heck of a lot harder on this project than many Americans work at ANYTHING.
*They obviously LOVE the USA. They're willing to risk death at the hands of Cuban officials over these attempts to get here.
Shoot, let these guys come to the USA and give them a job with Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage" show. Jesse James could always use another couple crafty mechanics with "never say die" attitudes.
