In the future I wish to imigrate down to the US and join the US Army but right now I want to join the Canadian Army Reserves (You can join at 16) but I don't know if that'll disqulify me from entrance into the US Army. Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks.

No it will not disqualify you from serving the US army, unless there is something in Canadian law that says so. The idea with the Lodge Act, which lets foreigners join the US military is to get capable and trained people, or atleast motivated people. The only thing I have heard of that will disqualify you from serving in the US, is if you have fought against US forces. I don't know if that is true, but it sounds logical.
Hope that helps.

I'm not 100% sure on that, but I believe the Lodge Act is no longer valid. It was passed in 1951, firstly to recruit volunteers from Eastern Europe and train them to fight the Soviets.
During OEF, the DoD set out to recruit native Arab speakers for similar purposes in the war against terrorism, but on a much lesser scale.

Joining the Canadian Armed Forces will not preclude you from joining te U.S. armed forces.
However, a buddy of mine was a member of a foreign armed service before he became a member of the U.S. Army. And every time he was up for a new security check, it was an issue.
Then it would get looked up. Then everyone would say OK. Then it would happen.
If you ARE going to join the U.S. military, wait until you join the U.S. military.
If you are ambivalent, join the Canadian military. A professional force in its own right. One that can use good recruits.

Security clearances are a gigantic pain in the arse.

Yeah, CJ's said it. I mean, they're necessary, but still annoying. Don't get bad credit or security clearances dry up like that.

Well I'm bound to have hassles with security clearence if I'm an immigrant, so I don't think CAF will make it worse.
