It looks like Oliver Stone is filming a new 9/11 movie...my take is we don't need one. I saw it live, I don't need a freakin movie. I hope this just isn't a way to make money off of what happened.

thats the worst idea ever... it was just 4 years ago, give me a break oliver stone. he is probably going to use the same old bs excuse "we cant let people forget blah blah blah" in my opinion this is much too soon, unless he wants to go and get the permission from all the victims families.
people haven't forgotten, he just wants money

Touchy subject. On one hand, you could say that it was had such an impact on the world that you can't really ignore it in the film world. They made films about the fall of Berlin, Cambodia and Pol Pot, so why not this?
On the other hand...You don't need to make a film to tell a story about an event where everyone who goes to see it saw it happen live, in front of them 4 years ago. The examples in my "pro" paragraph weren't seen as they happened, they had to be related to the public to highlight the events. Maybe in 10 or 15 years when there's a generation that didn't live with the event and the immediate ramifications.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,174368,00.html I agree. Both the horror and the heroism of 9/11 are well-documented and speak for themselves. I watched the first tower fall live on TV. I could smell the smoke and dust from the towers for days after the attacks. I don't need Oliver Stone to tell me what happened. If you ask me, this is just cashing in on a tragedy and people's emotions.

i've got a basic idea, but still, this is a touchy subject and a product aimed for the US public, no way in hell there wont be flag waiving.
Boycot the damned thing, we've all seen the pictures and the photage on the news, we don't need a sodding movie to remind us.

I agree entirely with that. In fact, I don't see why any movie should be made about 9/11, even in the future. It's just not necessary.

Yeah, I want to hogtie each of the asshole producers of this show -- they're in it ONLY for the money, right, honorable, ethical, or correct be damned.

Well Mr. Stone will make a 9/ 11 movie????
How he will saw to the public the story of 3000 maybe more people that lost there life’s on 9/11.
Will saw the Fire-fighters or NYPD police officers and emergency service people die try to help others?
Will saw maybe people fall from the twin towers because there were no chance to save there life or men or women call there home for the last time before the fall of the towers?
Will saw probably WHAT REAL HAPPEN or will saw again FIX HEROES that probably were not there or few block away safe?
Saw also Mr Stone and some gay people kissing each other for the last time as on your latest film ALEXANDER we haven’t see many only Alexander and few others.
Also next time found more historical facts before you film a movie Mr Stone

I just watched Platoon again recently, and the movie really hasn't aged all that well. It is jammed full of the typical leftist stereotypes of soldiers in general, and American soldiers in particular.
There's the sadist (and sociopathic) sergeant, there's the cynical "good" sergeant who just wants to get all his men out alive in a war he doesn't believe in, there's the naive recruit, there's the rapist-just-waiting-to-come-across-a-pretty-face, there's the basically incompetent officer class, there's the junky, and there's the loud-mouth who gets killed.
It's not hard to see why it won so many Academy awards back in 1986. It basically panders to every leftist preconception (misconception) of the Vietnam War.
It's hardly surprising in a way. Stone's "Wall Street" is an anti-capitalism movie, also choked full of leftist stereotypes of American businessmen.

It will probably postulate that the plot to attack the WTC was first hatched on a grassy knoll in Dallas by renegade CIA officers and anti-Castor mobsters, with the backing of the Trilateral Commission.. Any pretext to a Mulism connection will be through one of the CIA guys having participated in the 1953 coup against the Iranian premier.
I recently saw a documentary about Frank Capra (THE WW2 documentarian) in which Stone trashed Capra for his flag waving. Ollie needs to withdraw into his alternate universe, stoke his crack pipe and stay there.
