Who is partiipating in the ex this coming three day weekend?
So far, we have :
BCD's recce armor unit
5th field, and other assorted enginier units
Royal westminister regiment-infantry
Seaforth Highlanders(I believe)-Infantry
Rocky Mountain Rangers-Infantry
And some units I have failed to remember. :cantbeli:
Anyways, this exercise is going to be massive; larger than cougar salvo from what I have been hearing from the Co and Sgt Mjr. The plan goes, a separatist movement has formed and rogue military units are attempting to push 39 brigade out of BC and move in on territory parallel to the #1 Highway, and coqueilla. Our unit will deploy via ML, I am unaware of what the other units are assigned in terms of a roll, nonetheless, we will form a hasty patrol and probe into 'red' teams grid area. Section attacks, light patrols, raids will make him up the duration of the exercise until we are ultimately removed via helicopter extraction on the 8th. Its going to be one cold exercise, yet its going to be great. I will ensure I post images of the ex as soon as I come back.
Let the Winter Warfare begin!

Ducimus...
Opsec! Even though this is training, someone from the "Reds" might see it.
Just a thought.

There is nothing in there they would not know. I took that thought into account, thanks though. Trust me, I didn’t post anything 'strategically secretive'

If the "enemy" knows what you are going to do, and you know what they are going to do, how effective can the operation be?

They know we are coming. They don’t know when or where, or how about we have coordinated our inter brigade movements.(Even I don’t know this, I am sure we will be told tomorrow at the unit) I just got the draft of what is going down this weekend tonight, and what to expect, and the scenario which has been prepared.

A newspaper excerpt from the exercise I was talking about this past weekend. Save to your hard drive and enlarge the image so you can read the text. I will upload my personal images as soon as I develop my film.

On June 6th my Brigade (32 Brigade) is doing a 16KM march through Toronto.
And about massive field exercises, I remember getting repeatedly told not to try and defect to the OPFOR. rofl

We did 13 k in semi-mountainous terrain with snow up to our thighs, not to mention brutally cold weather during night patrols, a heavy rucksack, and myself whom was tasked with a c9 and three belts of 200 5.56 linked. The duration of the patrol lasted about 12hours. We were bumped once by an enemy recce unit that was following us on our movement toward our objective. We set up a flank along a tree line on their axis of advance and managed to kill three, yet the remainder managed to escape after an ozzy peel back.

Ducimus,
I appreciate your enthusiasm for what you do, but you need to check your spelling and terminology. Terrain is rarely "mutinous", as it tends to be inanimate. It can however be "mountainous" out in your neck of the woods. You didn't set up a "flank", you established a "hasty ambush" along your trail to destroy the enemy recce patrol that was tracking you. And finally, the last time I reviewed our Patrol Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), they did not involve anything to do with The Dark Prince of Rock, "Ozzy" Osborne. Perhaps you were thinking of the "Australian Peel-Back" technique for breaking contact to your front. In that case, the commonly-accepted short-form would be the "Aussie Peel-Back".
Just some friendly advice. If your terminology, spelling and grammar are correct, you stand a much better chance of projecting yourself in a professional and knowledgeable manner. Consider drafting your posts in MS Word or some equivalent word-processing software that has a spell-checker feature. Then you can simply cut and paste the refined/corrected text across into the forum.
Notwithstanding my pendantic criticisms, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your recent training and I thank you for the account. We need enthusiastic and motivated troops such as yourself in the ranks.

It can however be "mountainous" yes, I Misspelled this one word, and it should indeed be mountainous out in your neck of the woods. You didn't set up a "flank", you established a "hasty ambush" Actually, our section commander asked the support element to set up a 'flank' while the rest of the patrol remained in the tree line along your trail to destroy the enemy recce patrol that was tracking you. That is what I would be referring to, I hardly think it makes a difference as it is not a dictionary term, and is in fact colloquial army 'slang'. During Basic, we were never given the formal spelling of an"Aussie Peel-Back". I guess there was just more important training at hand.

OK "Ducimus".....
I was trying to be both polite and helpful. Clearly you have "issues" with acceptance of constructive criticism from someone who might just have been wearing the Maple Leaf on his shoulder for considerably longer than yourself. That's fine by me. I've seen literally hundreds of your type come and go over the past 24 years. You will undoubtedly suffer in the future as a result of your overly-defensive nature and your demonstrated failure to accept well-intentioned advice. But that's fine, as it is all part of the learning/growing experience. Assuming of course, that you eventually do acquire the capacity to listen and learn.....
I won't bother wasting any more of my time on you, young trooper. I can see from your response that it would be quite pointless until such time as you gain a bit more maturity.
Have a good one, and please try not to make the rest of us who share the same uniform look like poorly-trained yokels through our (very loose) association with you.
And with that, I am done here.

I think you misinterpreted my post; it was under no means meant to be derogatory or rude. I am simply justifying my reasoning. I appreciate your clarification of the correct terminology concerning an Aussie-Peel-Back"
My mistake Sir. (I took the liberty of viewing your webpage to ensure your qualifications)
