I don't know a massive amount about Marcinko, and I'm with TP on the 'Fight Club' rule, but if what I know about him is true, I have to give him a bit of credit.

I'm just surprised that he penned the crap above.

I started to read Marcinko's books many years ago,probaby about 15 or so,and still have a few lying around somewhere,I thought they were "not a bad read" but a lot was with a pinch of Salt,as the info about NAVSPECWAR was pretty limited then ,they provided a little into the mindset,and the roles,especially of ST6.........however by todays standards,he although had the respect back then,a lot of folks in the SOF community think he has a big mouth,and is going by his past reputation as a hard ass bad Mo Fo.
I'd go along with some of the stuff that's coming out re SF these days in that it should never be written about,the less the Public know the more effective these units are,last thing they need is a media frenzy,and public scrutiny......that's what make's these unit's "special".
I could imagine nothing worse than an Operator having his mugshot appear in some paper,book or TV programme,when even his Parents did not know what he did,the stigma involved in that can, put that guy and his family at risk, just to get a strory!!

im reading one of his books now, hes got an interesting way of writing. my favorite author is Stephen Coonts, hes got lots of good books

i wouldnt think too much of it since it was done for a series of fictional action novels and most of them were co wrote or "edited" with another guy. it was just basically fun stuff he made up in the books just like any hollywood stuff really. considering his 1st novel was non fiction only and so was The Real Team and both of them were hardly show and tell as to what people didnt already know publicly from vietnam etc. some light was shown on how st6 was created and stuff but nothing ball dripping juicy.

I have met him at the SEAL reunions and cant say anything bad except that he drinks too much but so do alot of us! I know a couple of the fellas from his real team book and one of them,probably the most well known one,is on my company advisory board,so Iam privvy to a little more insight about him than most. one thing for sure is that he is a pioneer of NAVSPECWAR CT!!

He's coming out to Iowa to deliver a 12 inch macho man later this week, as soon as he gets done with trigger. When he gets there, Farmgirl is going on vacation from militaryphotos.net for a few days, if you know what I mean. ;)

Also, a little know fact about farmgirl, she has midwestern sensibilities and her mother was incapable of raising children with less than average intelligence.

hmmmm........ from what i remember of the series id have to say nasty nicky grundle was one of my favorite characters besides stevie wonder but from a operator standpoint of just "what i feel" id have to say denny C. aka snake rings a bell from names ive heard externally from the series.
