Go up and tell a marine he's a soldier, usually it doesn't go over to well.
Its a matter of respect. ;)

45 days? Am I missing something here? Army basic is 9 weeks long. 7X9 = 63 days. Marine bootcamp is almost 13 weeks.

One isn't better than the other. It all depends on what you choose to do AFTER the training.

Those are good pics! Love the Marine on the Donkey!

Don't get into the Services B.S. rivalry. Guess what, we're ALL (the U.S. Military) American (or fighting for America)! I was in the AF, my dad was a Marine, I work for the Army now as a Contractor, and I'm also a Naval Reservist. I love them ALL. Each branch has its own unique character and capabilities, but NONE of them can do the job by themselves!!!!

Nice to see Bagram hasn't changed much. Air looks cleaner...

Tell him to stay safe and come home.

Great images Rammy, thanks for sharing! beats CCN pics!

Nice Image of the Corpman, he is loaded to the hilt!

So, how do you like the M-40A3?

What is that night night on the M-16A4? It is an Aquila? Is it type classified AN/PVS-## yet?

How can you tell it was Bagram? The air's been pretty crappy the last few days, real hazy. Been smelling more than usual too.

Great pics. One observation though...I thought for PERSEC/OPSEC reasons that faces of soldiers had to be obscured so they weren't identifiable?

Nice pics. Does anyone know the significance of spray painting "Alaska" on some of those old military planes?

How did I know?

Pic 1 looks like the signs out behind the runway by the field ASP and trash pit.
2- Could be anywhere but we always had a problem with these guys out by the ranges on the other side of the river (commonly known as East River Range)
3-Actually it looks like Jalalbad, but could be near any of the river basins in the spring.
4-Don't know, could ba any range.
5-Outside the main gate as you head to the ranges or to Kabul.
6-That bird used to be on the north end of the runway towards the city. It was painted when we were there, and since it was in the middle of a mine field and off limits knowbody took credit for it, so who knows what Alaska means.
7-So did this BTR, and looks like it still is.
8-Looks like the north end where "those guys" have their birds.
9-That used to be in the giant boneyard at the south end of the runway.
10-That building is by the bazar.
11-That tank and building are best seen by the turn to Kabul.
12-Outside the main gate.
13-Looks remarkably like the compound I lived in for a while, from the village side.
