Have to say I had a great time saturday, Durandal hosted a great shoot. The weather was great, it must have been in the 70s. Durandal provided the following for the guests, a camping area, trap shoot over the Ohio river, 50, 100 and 200yrd range, 2 gun shoot and to finish it all off a night shoot in the gravel pit with targets out to 600yrds.

I spent most of my day over at the 2 gun range,

I have to say, shooting the Ma Deuce in the gravel pit made a great day even better, unfortunately I get a pic of that:(

Durandal, many thanks for hosting a great shoot, and just in case 99 pops over here, many thanks for being a great range officer, setting up a great course and letting me run the 2nd time with your sub.

Very cool pics!

If you want to see a really great pumpkin shoot...tune into "Monster Garage" tonight at 9pm EST. They're doing their "Backyard Monsters" segment and tonight should include "THE SECOND AMENDMENT" pumpkin cannon. This is an air powered pumpkin cannon. It's over 100' long, is mounted on a trailer and is a former World Champion pumpkin cannon. I believe the owner Bruce Bradford, of Howell, MI, is a former world record holder as well.

The Second cost over $100,000 to build. It's amazing to see in person!

If you see two cute boys in "custom" monster garage t-shirts...those are my kids!

? where are the pumpkins?

There were a bunch over on the 50/100 and 200yrd range and there were 3 carved pumpkins with candles in attendence during the night shoot, but these 3 managed to escape unscathed somehow. I imagine they met their fate on sunday though.

The ones that survived were being shot at from 600yrds away, without optics it was pretty hard to see the candles inside carved pumpkins at that distance.

Er, aren't they a little close O.o

A little close for what?????

You weren't actually shooting at the white target, but the brown one sticking out to the side.

Wouldn't trap shooting over the Ohio river put lead into it? Are there any cities that get their water from the river?

I guess it depends on the shot used, can't you get brass shot, but even if it were lead shot I'm not sure that the amount going in would make any type of difference to the state of the river?

For some reason I doubt it, but I don't know, I don't live in that area.

Water from a river O.o isnt that what resevoirs are for?
Anyway its not as if it comes straight from the river without any form of processing

If you are chugging that water then lead is the least of your worries.

Lead is more of a concern to the animals/fowl that drink and eat the fish in the water. Im pretty sure you guys used steel shot, right? right? ;)
Unless your a bunch of rich bastages using tungsten.

To those of you that had concern about the river.

First, not to correct Geezah (but I am) its the Miami River, not the Ohio, though it is a tributary, that flows into the Ohio down river from Cincinnati. Yes, we were using lead shot. A total of 250 rounds were fired, each round containing about 1oz of No. 8 sport loads.

The only real concern is digestion by birds and later consumption by humans.

Trust me, lead in the river is the least of anyone's concern.

Normally I have the trap field set up on the rifle range, but with so many shooters, only a few of whom wanted to shoot trap, putting it on the river was no big deal.

Hey no harm, I'd prefer to be corrected if I'm wrong;)
