So I finally got accepted to Georgia Tech! Yeah, I know it isn't a big deal to yall but I wanted to share!

Congratulations! That is awesome. GT is great school even though the male/female ratio is hell for hard-leggin guys. Remember that every midnight trip to the Varsity takes 15 minutes off your life. Definitely go, just don't go too often.

I'm a rambling wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an engineer. Learn it, live it, love it.

Haha, thanks guys. I won't have too much of a problem with the guy to girl ratio for two reasons:

1. I'm majoring in International relations, and not a lot of guys pick that :-)
2. I have a girlfriend already...and as far as i'm concerned she'll be there for a while

Thanks for the encouragement!

International relations? Why the hell would you want to go and do a silly thing like that? See, here's the plan. Pick some easy liberal arts degree where you never have to go to class or any of that silly crap. Then go out every night in ATL and run so much leg that it should be illegal. Then when you nearly flunk out after 1 or 2 semesters, Chan Gailey will ask you to start at quarterback. After that they will assign you a tutor to take all the tests and you can get whatever degree you want. Simple.

Just kidding.

Bulldogs? What the hell is this crap? A traitor. Clarksville is still in TN. You have a moral obligation to bleed orange and even a passing reference intended to be funny that suggests success to those moron in Athens is serious. Serious indeed. I'll let it slip this time b/c I am sure you are kidding, but let's not get in the habit of encouraging Little Markie and the boys from GA Junior College, OK?.

Lighten up on Georgia. They've produced good soldiers. Take Lt. Col. Steele (Company commander in TFR, former lineman for the Bulldogs!)

Mandarin is pretty hard, but when you manage to learn it it'll DEFINATELY pay off in the future...

hehehe. it's not actually that bad, though. :)

four years of undergraduate is sort of a given. two years of medical school are spent learning the medical sciences (is sort of a given, cause it is comparable to a masters degree) and learning how to examine patients. the other two years are spent doing clinical rotations, learning how to look at ******s, doing some surgical rotations, radiology, etc. the 4-7 years after that are spent specializing and training for what you are going to do as a doctor. you get paid $30,000-$40,000 per year for basically being the slaves of the attending physicians. what's good though is that there was recent reform in the system taking down the weekly hours worked from 120 to 80. nice. :)

that's what you gotta do if you want to be part of the best medical team in the world. ;)

it's not so bad once you're there, though. you'll see the light at the end of the tunnel. ;)

120 hours! fvck I'm glad the only science I'm doing is political science I have a very hefty 11 hours a week, the rest of the time I'm supposed to be reading up on I.R. so coming on here is a good subsitute.

hang on, you're doing 80 hours a week and you still find time to make 3000 posts? I don't mean to be rude but do you do much else?

nooooo. i don't do 80 hours now! i will do that once i'm a resident! :P

in med school, you have something like 30 hours of class per week. i'm taking 15 hours/week this semester.

i should have made that more clear.

btw, Georgia Tech is an incredible school. woot

What the hell...120 hours A WEEK???

That basically leaves...48 hours. That's less than 7 hours of free time a day to sleep eat, etc...
That's not healthy. :|

yeah, i know. :( that standard has been practiced for what, 30 years or something? at least it's down to 80 now.

it's all worth it in the end. starting salary after all the education for an average surgeon is around $200,000-$300,000. if it didn't pay off in the end, nobody would go into medicine. it wouldn't be worth the 15+ years of education. ;)
