Ack, bloody hell.

I love the hippie talk of 'the government uses public schools to help the military'. No crap, at some level that's all public schools do...

Anyway, I just hope they don't have some 'turn in your guns' big brother gestappo crap in the works...

San Francisco has been that way for many years, and will continue to be that way until time ends....

The recruiters will be allowed under Federal Law

The measure will have no effect on military recruiters as they are allowed on school grounds under federal law, according to U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke, a spokeswoman for the U.S.
Department of Defense.

Also, Chicago has banned handguns (all guns really) and there is not a store in the city limits where you can buy ammo, firearms or anything that looks like a gun. Oh yeah, we have also banned:
- Spray Paint
- BB Guns
- Paintball guns
- The right to self defense

But we can't seem to ban raising my taxes (9% sales tax now) or smoking in bars and restaurants. Oh but wait, we did ban foie gras, so that is good. I am really glad the city took the time and money to create legislation that does not effect any industry in the chicago area.

I love my city council!

I need a drink, at least those are still legal. For now.

I guess kids are to lazy to goto the recruitment office or go online. and really need to sit and listen to the recruiter at school make false promises, try and convince you by bringing a hummer with loud sound system cause of course the kids love that, and then when you do make the mistake of giving them your social they proceed to call you nonstop for six months to get you to join up.

my school made the entire grade take the asvab and then gave out our contact info to the military who wouldnt take no for a answer and would continue to call even when you asked them to stop or had your mom going nutcase on the phone.

I had a recruiter tell my class in 11th grade that america fights wars with planes now soldiers dont really do much and its really safe. now I cant fault him for saying this because it was a few years back and nobody knew we would be in the situation that we are in now but still to minimize the danger of service to get kids to enlist is just a horrible thing to do.

I decided to sit down and meet with one of the army recruiters my senior year in the library and he made his presentation and told me how they would pay for this and that, and how living on base you would have so much money and how safe the military is and all that but he came off as really dodgey and turned me off to the whole recruitment thing. It left like the guy at Bestbuy who will not give up about trying to get you to buy the warrenty or sign up for the latest promotion.

I'm not anti military but I found the school recruitment to be a pretty horrible experience.

sorry for any spelling or grammer errors this was just what I saw

The ban, according to one of the women who was promoting this on The O'reilly factor, is aimed at stopping the sales, distribution and transfer of weapons in San Francisco city proper and SF county.

This will probably be overturned in the courts, maybe not the 9th Cir. Ct. of appeals, but somewhere as being unconstitutional on a few different levels. Sales of guns are commerce and if I remember my Constitutional law class from college you cannot impose laws that will ban or impede legal commerce across municipal, city, county and state boundaries.

This really shouldn't surprise anyone in America. SF is womb for all that is liberal and flies in the face of traditional America. Because they've had "so many" gun deaths this year, and in recent past, instead of going after the criminals lets just ban the guns...that's the answer to all our problems.

The lawyer lady on O'Reilly said you didn't need a gun to defend your property. Yeah, right! Let's see how she and her family survive when the merde` hits the la ventilator (crap hits the fan).

As for the military ban..I guess those mean and nasty recruiters have been promising the li'l kids lolipops if they sign up today to join the military when they're 17! Hell...my 5 year old wants to join up and he's never been near a recruiter nor hasone ever been in his school.

You would think so but then again handguns have been banned in Washington DC for 20 years now and nothing ever has been done about that. It seems more and more major cities will continue to do this. California has never recovered from Reagon's weapon bans obsession when he was governer and will continue that way for a long time to go.

I said in the other thread, and I'll say it again. I went to SF's third worst high school AND I joined the military. I don't recall seeing a recruiter there except for 2-3 times I was there for 4 years. My recruiter didn't solicit me, I went to her office and she told me it was my decision. I love SF and I want to move back, but this is totally idiotic.
