It's excellent to see the troops getting some recognition. Some of these pictures were used in a Maclean's article last winter on the reserves of the CF. It's a shame that we beat up on their fighting patrols so badly during that exercise....

If by 'beat up on their fighting patrols' you mean make them wait in the ORV/assault line for 2 hours, then yes. Of all the exercises to forget gortex pants...
You certainly beat up on the recce, but that was their own fault.
And yes, those pictures came out well, I think you might even be able to see part of my back in one of them.

Besdies snatching and eliminating the recce which was all kinds of fun, the other portion of the beating up was, if memory serves me correctly, engaging the firebase before an ambush was initiated and forcing the assault element to use fire and movement over 200m of exposed terrain while we withdrew to a ditch and directed fire on some very unhappy campers...but I could be imagining that part.....
One man one kit isn't that the rule Bennett? Silly rabbit.

well for one didnt Colt purchase Diemaco in 2005? those pics are from 2004, another point would be....wouldnt the REGULAR forces be inssued newer and updated weapons then the reserves.
The Canadians in the Camp Blanding pics are using US weapons.
Diemaco is now Colt Canada, the buy out happened a few months ago I believe.
Also, the 48th Highlanders are Reserve, not Reg Force.
A lot Reg Force soldiers still have C7A1s, C9A1s, etc. Prority for newer kit goes to the troops heading overseas.

I need to get me a batman.
Yes, we did have to use fire and movement over 200m of open terrain, but I'd definately blame the patrol commander on choice of ground for that ambush.
