note: sorry if this has been posted before, the term "XCR" is too short to search for.

Does anyone have some information on this gun, other than what is available on their website (http://www.robarm.com/xcrtm_modular_weapon_system.htm)? Apparently, it's a semi-automatic rifle (seemingly) tailored towards the civilian market, which comes in both 5.56 and 7.62 calibre, and they claim that they will start offering it in 6.8 next year. Their website says that the first batch should start shipping right around now.

It looks like an interesting weapon, not necessarily a competitor to military rifles, just a neat looking piece of hardware.

Yeah i've got that message before when searching for weapons too.

I was under the impression that it was resubmitted for the socom contract second time around ?

I remember hearing they were delayed in production or something...

What the hell is so cool about this thing, that has you people drooling? What does it do? It doesn't even come with an adjustable stock.

This is the next best thing to SCAR..
Gas piston for those of you that hate cleaning their rifle...

monolithic rail platfrom for the most rigid mounting platform

quick change barrel for possible caliber conversion.

M16 egronomics and it uses the M16 magazines..

The stock and the BUIS has to go though...

If folds! That way you can't possibly have a nice close CQC position! I imagine there will be relatively common aftermarket fixes, e.g. LR-300 adjustable folding stock.

The selector switch is terribly undersized, I never saw a problem with a T charging handle, and that's an odd, but at least justifiable place for a bolt catch...

The one pictured also looks like it's missing a brass deflector, but I may be wrong. Anybody less ignorant able to fill me in?

The rifle was disqual'ed from the SCAR comp by a politically motivated technicality. It's a fantastic piece. The stock can be easily replaced if you're having a stroke about it.

The initial SCAR contract is only for thirty weapons total. There may be another competition, or SOCOM may go buy some XCRs anyway. It's all up in the air right now. Colt wants another shot at it too.

I have been to the Robinson plant twice and spoke to Alex the president both times about projects they have. It has been my understanding that the disqual had something to do with the flash suppressor or blank adapter. It's a shame, that rifle is simply awsome. I got to play with the rifle for a bit (haven't fired it though) talk about some user friendly features. It's the perfect combat rifle if you ask me.

It's out for the public now. Saw an ad in Shotgun News for it being offered by RA.

I'd hit that ****.

I like how they say the charging handle is also a forward assist. I guess they really gotta point that out to people who don't get it.

IIRC posted on here was that the reason for the disqual was that they accidentally did not include BFA's in the XCR kit, and that the person responsible for the error was fired because of it.

If you dont like the stock, there is an adapter that is available so it can use AR stocks.

The person that forgot the BFA did not get fired. He still works there, and is doing fine.

The XCR had the contract before testing even began. In reading notes from the minutes from meetings prior to 5NOV04 (when the contract was awarded), that is pretty obvious. Sure they ask for samples to meet a certain criteria, but when the criteria is writen with a specific weapon in mind, you have almost a 0% chance of getting the deal no matter how good your gun is. Forgetting the BFA saved the government a lot of trouble though.
