I'm looking for WW2 british commando knit cap. Would any of you know where I can find one?

Got a pic of the one you're talking about? Because if it's what I think you're talking about we used to be able to get what we always called a "watch cap" at damned near any outfitter, hunters supply or army surplus store.

what you are looking for looks more like an OD green neck warmer. The raid cap was worn as a soft cap but is actually a tube of wool cloth that is placed on the head, the portion on the forehead folded up, and the remaining portion on top is folded down and tucked under. I do not have a picture of them, but check with some of the WWII reenacting sites for vendors.

Hope this helps.

Regards

what your looking for is called a headover i think, its like a tube of cotton material, theres a special way to fold it and put it on like a cap.

look whos talking, and yes i was wrong, but ive seen people using regular british army headovers as so called 'knit caps' just like this one http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/products/BC038.jpg you can buy those at that site... they are under reenactors>british military>headwear section

they have these too http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/products/BE726.jpg
but i can roll a headover to look exactly the same as one of those... so i dont see the point in forking out the money for one.

I think you did not understand why I posted. I didn't care what the said head cover was called. I posted to your response calling Ryan a "****" when in fact he wasn't the "****" you were calling him. Someone else was being the "****".

Back on topic....

That is a nice and very useful hat no matter what it is called.

That is a nice and very useful hat no matter what it is called.well considering he was being very patronising and talking at me like i was a retard i dont take too kindly to that, i might of took it the wrong way, but i tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and my reactions are usually the same.

You join the British Army and have some really hardass Sergeant yell at you till you bloody well get it right.

And Fozzie, if you get offended at people being patronizing then maybe you shouldn't be asking simple questions and the Cosmo forums would suit you better .....

What the...just came here to check responses and I discover THIS. I cant see how my post was offending as it was only a general -not pointed- query wondering how I was able to use a head over as a knit hat.

Holmer was right, thanks! I expected better of you Fozziebear, being ex ACF myself.
