not a bad looking machine. Whats the big tube on the left side of the turret. It almost looks like a TOW launcher, but I doubt it is.

What is so cool in those type of tanks , that the gunner is sitting on the left , and it has his own hatch , something that a westernized tanks gunner would kill to have . Add an MG near his hatch , and you make him the most happy gunner in the world .

Its an Yugo M84 with extra armor essentially right? So basically its just a jacked T-72 w/ ERA and some applique plates, along with what appears to be new electronics and such. I'm sure it suits their needs fine.

Its snorkel..

(enables them to cross water obstacle of 5m or deeper..)

'Soviet MBTs' have that.. as so has this..

I don't think we are talking about the same . I was talking about this thingy on the left side of the turret . This is probably , again , meteoroly pool ( offcorse , it's just a guess)

Yeah..

And that thing that you was talking about is i would imagine a wind sensor..

But then again..

It really doesnt look like 'TOW launcher', now does it?

It looks almost like a laser sensor, but I don't think that I have seen them that small before.

Yard Ape,

The 'pole' behind the laser / optics 'box' is the thing..

Is the wind sensor..

why is the frontal armour sloping down and inside wouldn't that deflect an AT round into the want and not up and way. The Abram has sloping armour that deflects AT rounds up and away from the tank this one has it going down and into the tank. Is there a reason for this or did someone make a huge ass error?

If it's the same as on the M-84, then the aérological sensor is right behind the gun, in the middle of the turret.

Like on the AMX Leclerc. But apart the well being of the gunner, it means that there are only three crew members, quite a challenge for tank commanders and crews used to work on a four crew members basis.

Lecklerc is gennerally very good tank , it uses some solutions , like partitial modulative armor (not one western tank uses , except offcorse... Merkava :P ) , it has enhanced turret from missiles that comes , have even better gun then M1 Cn120-26 . And it's autoloader capable to load 12 rounds in one minute in max fire rate .
The autoloader on Lecklerc is pretty reliable , and has good rate . But perhaphs it is the only tank with reliable autoloader . Once it's broken , that's it . In 4 cruemen tank , if loader is disabled , the gunner take the labor work , and tank is still firing . It's also taking a man from the tank , someone that can fire an extra MG , personal weapon , someone that can replace commander together with gunner , another pair of eyes (the most important !! ) .

No such accident has ever been recorded in France with the Leclerc.

And about the time needed to reload, maybe true when the panzer is static, but when it's moving along a bad track at 30/40km/h???

Javehn,

As i have understood you was a IDF tanker?

What was your position in a MBT?

Driver, Gunner, Loader or Commander?

:)

I completely agree with you, that's what I was pointing at.
many leclercs TC coming from the AMX 30 have regrets about losing the fourth member of their crew.
