depends on the legality of it. otherwise you could own any weapon you want just that the government reserves the right to imprison ur butt and take your toys away if caught.

You can legally own one in Canada, the hard bit is finding one. There are a number of modified clones (most commonly from Romania) on the market right now, though a Russian one is going to cost you thousands.

Got teary eyed a few times after we disposed of a few dozen of these...some authentic some Yugoslavian, but they sure would've made a nice "training aid". 3-4 still had cosmoline in them.
Double Tap thats an interesting list, is that direct from the statue or a mounties guide?
I notice that Vz58's are still being imported so you might be able to contest that law and import Russian TIGR rifles which are sporting versions of the SVD.
Points you can argue on:
Not called a Dragunov
Civilian version, i.e no bayonet lug, flash suppressor, civilian style stock and 5 round magazines.
Not based on the AK47 action.
Worth a try.

How is the precision of the Tigr compared to the Dragunov?

bombkicker, were you in the RCP and had to destroy confiscated firearms? Or was that elsewhere.
Double tap, you mean at one point ALL these could have been imported and purchased as a Canadian citizen?
BTW, AKM-63 & AMD-65 are Hungarian (FEG)

I'm assuming that bomb kicker was doing that particular job in the sandbox....

I was out west in Al Anbar...Al Asad, KV, AQ, TQ. From a few days to a few months at each. Saw the wonderful countryside...no guard rails on the highways, but that probably would have taken away from the vast expanses of "unclaimed real estate". Hell, some of the better locales out there probably include a free bunker, complete with a hole from a GBU, with the land purchase; if you don't mind tons of UXO spread around it.

"Former Prohibited Weapons Order No. 13 (in effect since January 1, 1995)"
What is the point with this kind of lists? Do those weapons look too bad or something, huh?
Black. The color of the true EVIL.
No need to mention evil pistol grips, super-evil flash hiders and mega-evil 30rnd magazines.
And lastly, bayonet. The weapon of mass-destruction.
