What are the primary differences between these?

Can the SCAR accept 7.62x39mm?
Can either accept 6.8SPC?
I don't think the SCAR is free floated, but is the XCR?

Since they look really similar, is there something terribly obvious I'm completely and totally frickin missing?

I honestly wouldn't put too much stock in that. If you read that comparisson it would appear that the M16/M4 can't do anything. It also says you can click on some factors for a complete explanation, and you can click on none. Furthermore, the last 5 points are fairly subjective. The comment about the receiver fouling may be technically true, but the number of reports of serious malfunction of the weapon based on reciever fouling since the end of the 1960's is scarce. The gas system one is interesting too, because I don't know of a lot of horror stories where the gas tube or block had to be replaced due to heavy use of the system. The good cheekweld thing is purely subjective. Folding stock? This at least deserves a "some" in their methodology, and you should go in and try and buy a rifle for them. If you're not willing to pay another 150 bucks, their rifle doesn't even come with a stock. Lastly, I never thought taking having to take a pin out would no longer make the weapon easy to open at all for cleaning and inspection.

Also, the XCR was disqualified from the SCAR-L comp because Robinson failed to provide a blank-firing attachment for their rifle. Now some have called BS on this, but I have to agree with people who say if you can't do something simple like that, and you can't follow basic rules, you shouldn't be allowed to play.

As to the 7.62x39mm and 6.8x43mm SPC issue, the SCAR requirement specs included neither of these cartridges.

S.C.A.R.-H is currently chambered in 7.62 x 39 & 7.62 X 51 (more caliber's are in development) The S.C.A.R.-L, is Chambered in 5.56 x 45. Both the L&H models have several (3 or 4) barrel variants based on length and mission. "IT'S MODULAR MAN, CAN YOU DIG IT !?!" The barrels are free floated on both L&H models. I have personally seen 5 shot groups @ 100 yards you could cover with a dime. The weapon was also suppressed @ the time. You need to wear shade when fired the S.C.A.R.-H chambered in 7.62 x 51 with its shortest barrel option, that thing can cause fires... L.O.L.

Still, anybody know if either is free-floated, or is the accuracy adequate for all the barrels used it doesn't really matter?

I think both guns, particularly the SCAR is ugly, I'm just trying to justify it in my head, because it should beat the M16 outright in everything but accuracy -- and then at least beat it.

The XCR has a free floating barrel

I'm one of the ones who called BS. It just gave the brass a reason to reject the XCR. Robinson's political pull isn't even in the same Universe as FN's. If it wasn't the blank attachment, it would have been something else.
