long term alcohol abuse will kill take about 10 years if you really
try :(. makes you lound potentially violent gives you a headache makes you vomit etc etc
Dope makes you a monged out anti social dope head can drive you insane if you smoke it heavily enough. will give you cancer and you will die see alcohol does'nt make you punchy lound or vomit in the streeets.
ones legal

Weed=Hippy
Hippy=Bad
Bad=illegal
There may be more side effects to pot than we know.
The whole moving on to stronger drugs seems to be pretty logical considering the people i know, then and again i've had conversations with people who smoke pot who said they would never try cocaine or heroin because that would be stupid. Then one of them said that he regularly took Exctasy :cantbeli: .
I also know people who have mental problems due to smoking pot and they didnt smoke it heavily.
End of the day, i think the laws should stick as they are now. More money should be put into research of the consequences and benefits of canabis instead of just using theorectical arguements.

Legalise and tax them all. Put the pushers out of business.
Alcohol and tobacco are as bad if not worse (he says as an ex-smoker who drinks).
All 'drugs' are bad in excess, so it should be criminal to work, drive or operate machinery under the influence, other than that, as far as I'm concerned, if you want to f**k your mind (or body), crack on :D
whoops.
hahahah.
Student medics here like to indulge (stress release, I gather), what about on your side of the pond.

Long term abuse of anything is bad. Moderation is the key. Alcohol is actually proven to be healthy in small amounts. I do not really have a stand on pot. I do not use it. I know many friends that have used it. Many of them are not going far in life. It seems they are having no problem whatsoever getting their stuff...so what's the problem, eh?

Marijuana is a natural(read herbal) narcotic. So if you legalize it, what is to stop you from legalizing mushrooms, opium, hashish or any other organic substance.
No such legalisation hypocrisy here... ;)
Anyway, differences between pot and alcohol are almost nil, apart from pot having less 'hangover-effects'.

some like to get wasted on alcohol. personally, i don't think that those people should be in medicine if they need to get wasted to forget about their stress. ;)

The only reason why cannibus is illegal in the US is because back in the '20s and '30s the tobacco farmers had better lobbyiest than the hemp farmers. marijuana is not any worse than tobaccoo or alcohol AFAIK.
Once again....the answer lies in the $$ lined pockets of some politician :lol:

So true.
Now living in Canada they are decriminalizing pot. I known alot of people who smoked it, they seem no different from when they havent smoked it. Actually its quite hard to tell the difference except for the obvious red eye.
Quite frankly I find people that are drunk they are alot more stupid/retarded then any stoned person. Its amazing when you go to a local bar n watch everyone drink themselves ****faced then at the end of the night they all jump in the vehicles n leave....ironically if they had been smoking pot instead of drinking they'd be passed out ;)
p.s. dont forget hemp produces alot more paper then an acre of tree's

I've smoked pot a few times made me giggly and stupid then I fell asleep.
been drunk more times than I can remember.
Of the view the war on drugs was lost a long time ago and can not be won Humans like to get off there face on drugs. If you don't drink I will accept the counter argument but if you indulged in alcohol you've used a powerful mind altering substance.
Legalisation and control would save more lives and money than this war ever will.

I say legalize it and tax the f**k out of it. Just like tobacco.
If they try to drive or operate any dangerous machinery while high, then severely penalize them.
Can you imagine the Super Bowl ads... :D

Ironically I know people who smoke weed and operate heavy machinery at the same time, they usually operate it better when stoned because they are more paranoid :lol: When there not stoned thats when everyone mess's around n does wheelies in the bobcatt.....
As for taxing weed like tobacco I dont think that would exactly work. People wouldnt stop growing it in there house/farm/shed/trailer/whatever just because the government legalized it. You probably have alot more people growing it outdoors in summer :P Besides nobody likes paying taxes especially hippies.

Bastardchild- I do see your point. On the other hand, I could grow tobacco in my back yard, Its just alot easier to go to the shop and buy a pack of cigs.
There really is no good reason except that drugs have always been a little taboo here in the states. Marijuana is no more "addictive" than alcohol - meaning that neither are physically addictive - only emotionally in certain people.
I have to go with Scrim on the legalization thing. Americans have proven to universally share one trait - we are lazy when it comes to self-sufficiency. If the govt legalized marijuana I still would not smoke it - but most if not all people who use it now buy it and they would continue to buy it once legal.
It seems to me like legalizing mj would have not much effect though except for the dealers b/c mj for recreational use is often, not always mid you, overlooked unless you are committing some other crime.
I can't honestly say that it will ever happen though, not for a long time anyway.
