I don't understand why the Air Force can not make use of a plane designed to meet the Navies needs. They have used many carrier capable aircraft in the past to great success.
I wondered in the past this same thing, and it does not surprise me to see this in the news.

Well, remember that the whole project has been overbudgeted by 80% since 1996. If USAF says yes to the cancellation, I doubt Norway, Denmark, Holland, Turkey and UK can hold the R&D and production cost.
A hypothetical scenario: USAF orders Gripen :) :) :)

The Gripen's not got the range, which is one of the reasons why the Australians chose the JSF over the Gripen.

Got to love this. Aren't they trying to cancell alot of big ticket items to fund the crap war in iraq.
