Yes, I'm back, and I'm done complaining. I've been looking for a decent source of information about fast roping operations, and I have a lot of questions. Before I ask them all, I'd just like to know if there is a good place to go, or if there are any members here who are familiar with fast roping who would be willing to answer some questions.

what do you want to know?

Kind of wierd questions, but basically just the way things go. If these questions are too circumstantial, or need clarification, let me know. Things like:
-Is there any form of "stack" in the helo? Does it matter who goes first/last?
-Where/how is the rope stored when not in use? Is it coiled on the floor, or stored in a box, or what?
-Inside the helo, who's in charge? Who gives the commands (i.e. "Team go", or "Rope Away", whatever it may be)? Is it a pilot, or crew chief, or the team leader?
-What is required of the pilot during fast roping ops? Does he have to work very much to keep the aircraft balanced and stable?
-How is the rope deployed? What is it attatched to? How?
-Is there a certain amount of time the team waits before jumping (for lack of a better term)? I've heard of some teams waiting for the rope to land and settle, and others "go down with it".
-How does a fast roper exit the aircraft? Do you jump, or lean out, or what?
-Is there a limit to how many ropers can be on the rope at one time? Any weight limits?
-Is there a proper form and technique to fast roping? What type of grip is required? Loose, tight, and must you use your feet?
-What type of gloves are needed (I've heard of people using welder's gloves, and I know that Hellstorm (Blackhawk) makes their own)?
-Is there anything like a PLF (like what is taught at Airborne school) for fast roping?
-Once on the ground, is it similar to exiting a helo on the ground? As in, a defensive perimeter set up?
-What is an average/usual height for a fast rope insertion?
-How long are the ropes? What are they made of? How are they constructed? How much do they weigh?
-How are the ropes disconnected once the team is away? After the rope is away, what happens to it? Is it forgotten, only to be replaced? Are they of any value? If I remeber correctly from the book Black Hawk Down, Dan Schilling, an Air Force Combat Controller, almost lost his life while trying to recover one of these ropes from the middle of a Mogadishu street.
-What are some complications that may occur during fast roping ops? Are there any sort of emergency plans? If so, what?

There is absolutely no reason for this info to be posted. if you are in the service and your unit will do this type of insertion then they will teach you what you need to know. If you are not then you have no reason to know these type of operational procedures. I think this is totally BS to give out these kind of answers. Iam so pissed at this I cant see straight!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me WTF you need this info for? What purpose does it serve to you?

I just pictured reading an Army bulletin about some water purification unit in OK that decided to conduct AAslt operations off the roof of the reserve center and 4 people were injured, 1 killed.
The 15-6 goes like this:
" I thought you were a qualified repel master?"
"Nah, I read a bunch of **** off Militrayphotos.net"
"Ohh."

Don't get the poopy-pants Triggerpuller. As long as we point him to info that is not sensitive, it is safe.
I suggest that Eagle let us know what the info is for.
Make sure we don't send him stuff that is not for public viewing.
I also suggest that Triggerpuller whip out the bath beads, herbal tea, scented candles, and take a nice soak and have a good cry.... that is what I do when I get all tense.
ooopss .. was that out loud??
I meant to say that I .. uh.. work out... uh... clean my pistol in the dark while naked and slathered in CLP... dammit! I wish those voices in my head would shut up!

Trigger-Puller,
I understand your concerns, not to worry. Fast-rope operations (tech) are not classified.
