That is Bonnland. An Urban training village on the Hammelburg training area near Schweinfurt in Bavaria. The village citizen were forced to leave the village around 1890, when the II. Royal Bavarian Army Corps expanded the training Area. Since that time the village was used for MOUT training bei German forces. It is already over 700 years old.

In Poland we have something like that in Wedzrzyn, but it never was a real city. This Bonnland looks very nice, i guess yours army dont used ther too many explosives. KSK didnt training there i guess, if they did, they could make some big boom.Like ours GROM in Wedzrzyn.BTW Wedzrzyn is near of Wroclaw(former Breslau) ;)

How come the french were using the G36s and MG3s? Are the weapons specific for the training area?

Host nation usually provides, cheaper and less problems assosiated with transporting enough of them.

These two infantry Bn are the two infantry units of the German-French Brigade. They often train with each other's weapons.

They also share quarters and most officers speak the two languages in the GFB.

In the support Bn in Mullheim for example the German soldiers on guard duty use FAMAS, not G36. That's because FAMAS was put into service a long time ago when the G3 was still the standard Bundeswehr weapon.

Is the soldier on the second picture wearing a PROTEC-helmet?

To Jester: are regular Jäger/Fallschirmjäger-units allowed to use PROTEC-helmets?

It looks more like a German issue tank helmet; he probably has just disembarked from a Marder or Wiesel or he is using the helmet to stay in radio contact with the fire support by plugging the cord into a radio set.
