Offcause he has the cap on. If that thing is on, he need to have the cap on! In the middel of the cap there is a needle hole. Small amount of lights are comming through. So he can actually see with the cap on :)

The pic has been taken in daylight, the unit won't work properly in daylight because there is too much light. If you want to test it for example you would have the cover on with the pin hole letting enough light in for the device to work properly.

You really don't want to take the cap off in daylight. It can damage the NVG.
