You'll probably have a hard time finding statistics and information in the recent Gulf War. Democracy takes time...besides...lots of things are still under wraps.
I'd do Kosovo or the War on Drugs.
i'd say the india-pakistan nuclear standoff. i don't know much about it anyway.
problem with that is that this is about strategy, and any strategy involving nuclear weapons is dull as fvck, cos it comes down to counting nukes, types of nukes etc... If it weren't for that I would consider it.

5. Weapons of mass destruction - case study of Libya versus North Korea
6. The nuclear threat - what's left of the Cold War nuclear arsenals and what future threats do they pose

Wow those are a lot better topics to choose from. I'd probably end up doing War on Terror followed by the Libya, North Korea one.
4. Congo (Zaire) - ongoing conflict in the heart of Africa
sounds interesting.

There is so much infomation on the war and terror. I mean you could cover anything from G Bay to the Anthrax attacks in America and Operation Anaconda.
Whatever you choose to do then any chance you could wack your essay up on here, sounds like it would be an interesting read.
