and this Bell is Airforce(but Mi24 isn't -i don't want to sound like asshole but if you name thread Airforce you shouldnt post pics of other branches or mark it). 412 is used by 36SPLT "special" they do presidential flights etc this Bell was bought for pope JPII visit but never flew with pope, and spend few years grounded because lack of spare parts.

ok. moust of them are military (apart from those two) but they are from diffrent branches, Army has its own airforce -only helos now, Navy also has its own airforce with thingies like Mi14PS or SH-2G but there is separate branch called Airforce.
If you are Pole:
jest Lotnictwo wojsk lądowych
lotnictwo marynarki wojennej

What is the difference between two models of mi 24.
how does one remove the aerodynamic thing fitted in front of the missile before firing the missile.
what is that pipe thing fitted on the mi 2 exhaust. is it for reducing IR signature of the engines.
Is the W3 gunship fitted with any guns. The thing in front what is it radar or some type target acquisition thing.

What is the difference between two models of mi 24. black templar - please use a question marks (?) - then we know you are asking... p-) . Differences? Anybody...???

how does one remove the aerodynamic thing fitted in front of the missile before firing the missile. not sure either...

what is that pipe thing fitted on the mi 2 exhaust. is it for reducing IR signature of the engines. I think it's for repairing time reason only, but not sure...

Is the W3 gunship fitted with any guns. The thing in front what is it radar or some type target acquisition thing. I though there are some heavy guns assembled with W3W - haven't you figured it out?
Ciao! p-)

1. Mi24D is erlier version visual you can see it has nose turret but it also has older targeting systems and uses older rockets, Mi24W has twin gun pod on its side and has newer targetting systems.
2.duno prabably removed before flight
3.its not for reducing ir signature its device to lay smoke on battlefield (its Army helo)
4.its armed with twin guns on side (on some removed) also it carries diffrent pods on its "wings" and can carry gunners with PK inside, thingy on front isn't radar it is place where nose turret will be placed (it was planned but it never got one now with upgrade programe it will get its nose-gun)

Radical changes are going to appear in the Polish military helicopter fleet during the next few years... Up to 60 new medium helicopters will be bought, first for the VIP transport and later to replace all currently used Mi-8/-14/-17 in the Air Force, Army and Naval aviation. The tender is already underway and the contestants are NH-90, EH-101 and S-92.

It's the Mi-24P that has a twin gun :p. But you're right about the rest- Mi-24D uses the 9M17 Falanga (AT-2) ATGMs while -V uses the 9M114 Kokon (AT-6).

That isn't exactly true. There is a bid for 6 (six) new heli for vip transport for Air Force, theri should buy more but... the bid is only for 6 copters.

Currently AF is using Mi-8S (salonka) and Mi-8P (pasażerski) to transport VIPs (AFAIR there also is one Mi-8T) and Mi-8RL as SAR (not CSAR). This year five from six Mi-8S will be recapture so we need new copters. We also need four to six CSAR (some of them will replace Mi-8RL) - I think that goverment should do this like a man and replace all medium copters used by AF (this would be 6 VIP, 6 CSAR and about 4 TTC to fulfill all needs) - and transfer all flyable Mi-8 to Land Forces.

The thing is different in the NAVY - We use Mi-14PL (anti-submarine variant, modernized - new radar and equipment, can carry MU-90 eurotorpeedo - will be used no less then next 10 years), Mi-17T (transport variant - can fly next 10-15 years) and Mi-14PS (the SAR variant that need to be replaced ass soon as possible - we need about 3-4 new copters).

What about Land Forces? they use about 25 Mi-8 (4 of them in Iraq) and about 10 Mi-17. Mi-17 are newer and can fly next 10-15 years, but most of the Mi-8 should be retired next 5-10 years.

So what we should buy to fulfill our needs? (in brackets i put the name of the hopter that will be replaced.

2006-2010 (20 copters)
6 VIP transport (Mi-8S, Mi-8P), 6 CSAR(Mi-8RL), 4 TTC(Mi-8P, Mi-8T) for Air Force and 4 SAR (Mi-14PS) for Navy.
2010-2015 (26 copters)
about 20 TTC(Mi-8T) for Land Forces, about 6(Mi-14PL) anti-submarine for Navy
beyond 2015 (18 copters)
2 TTC(Mi-17T) for NAVY and about 16 TTC(Mi-17T) for Land Forces

so it will be about 60-70 copters to be bought next 15 years to replace all fleet.
