IDF combat infantry urban operations pics

Here is a “little” collection of IDF combat infantry pics of mostly urban operations throughout the west bank, though I put in a few training pics as well. Those operations have been very successful in a reduction of attacks aginst Israelis, in that in the past year they have resulted in over 50 percent reduction in successful terrorist attacks, like homicide bombings or shootings.

Note most (though not all, for there are a few SF pics sprinkled about as well) of those pics are of regular combat infantry units and not of SF. (though their high quality isn’t that far off from the SF units ;) :D ).

I ask that any flame comments be refrained from this thread…if you so desire to go continue with your rhetoric then please do so in the general section. A lot of times people forget that this is a MILITARY forum and any pics that might offend anyone’s leftist/liberal ideology (or more importantly, have no real clue as to the real situation and combat that the IDF has faced and has to have put up with) should keep the comments to himself or post it in the other general section and not pollute this thread on what is a collection of IDF photos on what is a militaryphotos forum.

(I seem to remember you being very "worried" about the IDF giving up its unique Israeli look ;) )

As for these helmets, its mostly old U.S. surplus and that is cheaper then the IDF helmets or even the new Israeli "super MICH" helmet.

And yes Israel and the IDF is going through a budget squeeze now :(

The IDF also has purchased a lot of surplus PASGT helmets from the U.S.

About the new Israeli made helmet, I already had a thread about it…..it is supposed to be slightly better then the U.S. MICH helmet.

It is in limited use in some select units………..unfortunately due to budgetary concerns, I doubt we will see it in mass use in the IDF anytime soon :(

(The same company also makes its own PASGT helmet, though again it’s cheaper to purchase old U.S. surplus ones)

and Rabintex make one as well

Besides extensive live fire training, and also yes training with paintball guns that are like m4 or car15’s, the IDF also has the MILES system and it is in extensive use for training throughout the infantry combat ranks.


Really? I read a book that had a little part in it about Israel and concerning the Black Ethiopian Jews. It said that Israel didn't really care about the 'black ones'. :| yeah that’s why Israel sent over planes (and also had a whole Mossad operation as well in this effort to get these Ethiopian Jews to Israel) and flew back thousands of them from Ethiopia to come to Israel....all this because it doesn’t care about them :roll:

Anyways yes at first there were some hardships and perhaps a little mistreatment, but things have gotten better and they are just as much apart of Israel or the IDF as any other in Israel

I served with Ethiopians and they were proud to serve and loved Israel as any other Israeli.

There are 1 million people from the former USSR is israel.

The next two pics are of an Israeli modified hummer that was used extensively in certin parts before the intifada and is now used less so or in relative “quite” area’s due to it not having any Armour protection.

Probably it from this company as i can remember now the model is PRC- 732. Been using that for many years and does not seems to be good. Short range ok but slightly furher will have difficulties to communicating. We would rather use our handphone to communicate with the commanders.

As you know, besides the Israeli made handguns like the new IMI Barak or the IMI Jericho, the Glock (17 and 19) is used extensively in the IDF.

Well first of all they do have a English version (a link to it is on the top right corner of that page)

But yeah the English one is much more limited then the Russian language one.

And about that I hear you, however I found a little "trick" on how to navigate there ;) :D

All you have to do is put your mouse cursor on any "button" that is a link to another page there, and then look on the bottom and it translates it in English.

So for example go look to the top and you’ll see a straight line of links. Go place your mouse cursor on each one till you see on the bottom it says index, click there and then look on top and you’ll see four links and find the one that says pictures and then click and then look for the one that says raids (it’s the first link) and then after if you go over each one you’ll be able to choose from which location the operation took place.

I hope that helps.

“Afgahni” at first brought in his whole Ethiopian Jews thing, and I have responded that there are tons of Ethiopians in the IDF and they now serve as proud as other Israeli’s.

Then somehow things persisted with blacks (Ethiopians) in the IDF and whether there were any blacks there or whether they were painted black (which in itself is pretty retarded to say ;) )

As for a white Israeli painting his face black…

To make clear, the first pic is indeed a white Israeli with his face painted black.

The other four are not and they are black Ethiopians.


Again Black Ethiopians are abundant throughout the IDF and serve just like any other Israeli (Again I know for I served with some of them).

Yes I agree with that in theoretical principle, however Israel has tried the carrot big time thoughout the Oslo years and is now forced to rely on the stick not as any strategy per say but simply on no choice.


As for the opium, I am not a flower expert on what they are called, but I highly doubt they are opium, for its illegal in Israel to grow it and I haven’t heard of much cases of this, however this pic is taken in the west bank and so you never know (and no I am not referring to the Jewish inhabitants there)
