GUADALAJARA, Mexico *—*The boos nearly drowned out "The Star-Spangled Banner," and a few dozen fans chanted "Usama! Usama!" as the United States was eliminated by Mexico in Olympic men's soccer qualifying.

A loud anti-American crowd yelled the first name of*Usama bin Laden, the leader of the*Al Qaeda terrorists who carried out the Sept. 11 attacks, as Mexico beat the United States 4-0 Tuesday night in the under-23 tournament, claiming a berth in the*Athens Olympics.

As U.S. players left the stadium for their bus, several fans -- some clutching beers -- chanted "Usama! Usama!"

Police in riot gear held back the crowd and urged people to calm down.

"I think the fans here in Mexico are terrific; I think their patriotism and support of their team is terrific," U.S. coach Glenn Myernick said. "But unless I missed something, not one of them came down on the field and kicked the ball. We were beaten by a better football team tonight, not by the fans."

For Mexico, the game partly avenged a 2-0 loss to the United States in the second round of the 2002 World Cup, a far more important tournament involving national teams.

The U.S. men will miss the Olympics for the first time since 1980 -- when the entire American delegation boycotted the Moscow Games. Mexico also ended the United States' 19-tournament streak of qualifying for every FIFA men's outdoor event, including the World Cup, the Olympics, the World Youth Championship for players under 20 and the Under-17 World Championship.

While both Mexican national television networks broadcast Tuesday's game live in Mexico, there was no television in the United States, where the game was broadcast on closed circuit to about 190 restaurants.

Pricks.

They oughta remember that next time they try to sneak across the rio grande. Ive been to Mexico. odd place. Many different political beliefs...lots of different people of different nationalities down there. Unfortunately their also seems to be alot of corruption down there. American currency will get you anything down there. 2.99 a case a beer... 5.99 a hooker... 50 bucks will get you outta jail.

Not to be a stick in the mud . . .

I heard one of the Sporting News Radio guys talking about this last night about 7:30 EST. I think the story is legit. Hard to imagine what we as a country have done to our brothers from the south to prompt this. Hell, its not like we are even that good at soccer/football or anything like that.

Anyway, back to the farmgirl pictures. I have a picture of somebody in a blue gorilla, trigger swears it is farmgirl, but I am not sure I can believe him.

Any bidders on that, just curious

American workers are just not competitive enough, if you guys took more pay cuts and were prepared to work in less than perfect conditions then there would be no Mexicans streaming across the border taking American jobs. Competition its the corner stone of capitalism. :)

I don't have problem with LEGAL immigrants work here, but I do have problem with ILLEGAL immigrants work here. You don't even know what kind of people immigrated here illegaly.

Yeah, great idea. Unfortunately, we have these silly things called laws that mandate working conditions and wages. Not much support for lowering them. It all comes around though. Japan used to kill us on labor costs, now they outsource in the US. Next came korea, but now they build cars here.

There will always be workers who will do the job for less and US working standards won't change that. Funny that a European would accuse the US of this, though. You guys invented 4 day work week right? ;)

Well Jack I have no argument on the long hours that Americans work, you guys sure work long hours and get fewer holidays than many others, I read my post again and I can find no reference to idleness, nope you guys are not idle so why supply links to pages that confirm the incredibly long hours that you work. The big problem is that Americans demand decent wages and working conditions something that many employers wish the did not have to provide, why pay the going rate when you can pay the minimum rate to some new arrival who now finds himself earning the same in a day that he once earned in a week back in his old country.
The evidence speaks for itself, countless numbers of people coming from less well of countries and streaming over your borders, some will work illegally others will attain legal status and many will do the job for less than what you expect for a hard days work. Weep em man its capitalism and its here to stay.

um...dude. You can't compare U.S. wages to other wages in other countries.

For instance, $1 dollar here in the U.S. can buy you a bag of chip or some chewing gum. One U.S. dollar in Vietnam can buy you 3 decent meals for a whole day.

$20 in U.S. can buy you a hand job and $20 U.S. dollar in Mexico can buy you a blow job and then some

um...dude. You can't compare U.S. wages to other wages in other countries.
It really was not a comparison Jack maybe a poor analogy on my part, but you get the point these folks earn **** back home and when they arrive in the US and get the minimum wage they probaly feel like millionaires until reality sets in and they discover the US can be quite an expensive place to live when you are earning bottom dollar, in the meantime these people are willing to work all the hours that god sends them in poor working conditions for a lot less than you would consider decent. Maybe you guys over there have priced yourselves out of the job market as there seems to be an increasing amount of companies willing to break the law and employ illegals. A lot of industrial sectors would not be so profitable without this immigrant labour, the fresh produce sector for one, so it has its benefits. :)
