How much bandwidth do you have?

i'm on an OC-25. my download is around 8mbit. my upload is around 24mbit. :)

Huh?? 8 Mb down, 24 Mb up? Strange... Anyway, I got cable here, officially 2560 down, but I can get something like 350 k/s download max, so that makes around 2800. Upload is 256.

yeah, man, my upload is totally killer! 24 megabit upload. it has to do with the way the network system handles uploads out to the rest of the internet. file servers and web servers for my school are done at a central point which is connected to the internet but the other part of the campus network (students surfing, etc) is connected directly to the internet through another pipe. very efficient.

so, because nobody does serious uploading from their own computer (because it takes away from their bandwidth allowance), the upload part of our network is virutally unused. the download is another story, though. :(
