That's pretty harsh, MB!
SNL is horrible, has been since Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Farley, and a host of others went away...

The swedish cooks are hilarious but I like the 2 old geezers in the balcony of the theatre who make smarta$$ comments. They remind me of myself.
That king prawn guy from the commercials is funny as well.

Alright...it's 30 minutes into the show and it's boring as hell, to include his 15-minute opening monologue.
Back to my Family Guy DVDs...

I personally think the whole "Sandler-Spade-Farley" era on SNL was slightly overrated. Granted, it was funny, but it relied too much on immature-potty-boy humor. It was very physical and slapstick-y, so I think that's why guys liked it.
I think SNL has gotten a lot smarter since Tina Fey took over as head writer. The humor isn't as "in your face," nor does it desperately scream "Please laugh at this! This is funny!" I remember someone posting an article a while back on the difference between male and female humor, which I think applies here. The humor on the show now relies less on physicality--it's more situational and nuanced. I remember hearing a quote attributed to John Belushi, who was notoriously sexist, "Chicks aren't funny." I think most men like watching comedy performed by men. Now that the cast is solidly 50-50 gender-wise, guys don't like it as much. They won't admit it, but when was the last time you saw a guy watch a female-driven sitcom, purely for the laughs?

Molly, you're as pretty as Princess Leia and you're as smart as Yoda. Seriously though, I think I've agreed with you on every single thing that I've ever read by you. You know what you're talking about. SNL has always been pretty hit and miss, but it's smarter these days, and it still beats the sh*t out of Mad TV any day of the week. It just chaps my ass that Comedy Central airs that show as much as they do. P.S. to all the Dane Cook fans, he's overrated. You don't need to bring much to the table to enjoy that man's comedy.
