That's the only way to describe the looks of tha a/c. Only the Mirage III/IV/V/2000 is as hot looking.

Believe it or not the RCAF (and the germans too I think) used it as a ground support aircraft. The RCAF originally used it for the nuclear strike role in NATO, but when that task was dropped there wasn't much else to do with it but use it as a tactical bomber, a role to which it was somewhat unsuited. That's part of the reason for the high accident rate.

I used to have an F-104 flight manual around but loaned it to somebody and it's long gone. I recall though, that the airplane had an astounding glide ratio for something with wings like that; about 5:1, or in the range of ram air parachutes. Problem was best glide speed was over 200kts...

F-15's don't dogfight with 104's. They play with them.
