Its the first time i've seen the BBC use footage shot by jihadist groups of a direct attack on an american group. its pretty nasty if you know what you're watching! It shoudl've been left for ****** not for the BBC!

Just needed to get that off my chest.
I just hope no one died in the attack. (i'm sure peopel were hurt in it :( i hope they recover quickly)

No no they reported only breifly on that even though more were killed than US marines were yesterday! this was part of the report and the cut in some jihadist footage of a roadside bomb against a US army foot patrol (plus a hummer)

I saw that footage on CNN. Very disturbing footage to say the least.

It's on the web and I'm not going to link to it.

Pretty bad.

And, unfortunately, they're about as likely to challenge their own assumptions as they are likely to correctly interpret what the video shows.

One has to be fair, it cuts both ways.
Why then is it acceptable to show bombs-eye views of coalition bombs hitting targets? Or night vision footage of iraqis being shot to pieces.

I agree, durring WW2 the BBC should have made a point of showing Nazi propaganda films and made sure the people could rationalize the Nazis point of view. One has to be fair, it cuts both ways.

When's the last time the media showed fottage of a laser guided bomb hitting a target unless it follwed the headline famliy and children killed. Common now...yes we can show both sides...but the media isn't doing that and they sure as hell aren't fair and balanced.

No mate, what I was refering to was that the video did not look like US Marines, they looked too skinny, and lacked equipment, some looked like they were wearing ski masks, even as grainy as it was,my initial impression was that this wasn't the attack shown that killed the US Marines, but rather the attack on the Iraqi Army.

The US Marines were lured to a yard where the IED was placed, they were hit by a daisy chained multiple 155mm's at that. The incident shown was a single detonation, and trust me,it didn't look like a 155 either,it was also done on a street....;).......I never look at the video,I look into the video, amazing the stuff you see when looking beyond the trees!!

Come on Argyll, dont go asking people to think for themselves! If the BBC says something it must be true.

These days all every one is interested in is a good story and with pictures, but if this wrong what about all photo's on the web of dead Iraqis and soldiers standing there with there feet on them like some of the old photo's of the game hunters in Africa. I think you must agree that some of these photo's have passed the realms of decency.

heh argyll i never thought it was the marines if you read what i wrote i said "an attack on a US army foot patrol" i mentioned the marines part only because the marines killed a couple of days ago got much more coverage in the media then the 11 iraqi army troops that did.
i just never realised the iraqi army used Hummves! i suppose once again i'm going from the media and information i only just gleen from pictures.
Thanks for your pro analysis though Argyll if it wern't for you i would still be thinking is was US army!

(gah edit! i keep spelling your user name wrong!

I'm sure i remember all the major news outlets showing footage from "guncams" during GW1 and GW2, as well as the Balkans. Sometimes with a commentary from a member of the military as played in a news conference.

I guess a reason why the BBC didn't show Nazi propaganda films is that you can't display images on the radio, but i've seen news reels from the time that show in no uncertain terms the results of German bombing, and clips from German news reels as well.

I've also read American newspapers from the pre-1941 period that printed the claims of the Nazi propaganda machine, especially during the Battle of Britain / Blitz period.

Yes I am quite aware of those things, and I was referring to news reels. Context and content make all the difference in the world. There was no doubt whose side they were on, nor was their any attempt to rationalize things from the enemy point of view durring the war.
