I have seen alot of pictures of Marines in woodland camouflage (some times just body armor but at times the whole thing) and the Army in chocolate-chip camouflage. I have seen Marines in chocolate-chip don't get me wrong but why are they wearing woodland camouflage in a desert??

They probably didn't have enough desert uniforms on hand to issue before they went to the sand box. Also, if they are images from the beginning of the war, the Marines spent most of the campaign in their MOPP gear, fearing a chemical attack. JLIST suits only come in woodland camo, so this would give the impression that they were wearing woodland BDUs.

Thats very simple they don't have enough dessert camo vest to go around and a vest is usualy better than no vest.

The 6 color desert camo/chocolate chip uniforms were used in the first gulf war. Now the Marines have MARPAT Desert Uniforms(some wore the 3 color DCU awhile ago), an the Army has the 3 color DCU and some have ACU over there.

Yea, the reason for them wearing woodland camo in the desert was because their MOPP suits were woodland, same with the IBA covers.

Although, I have seen some pics of rear ech(I'm guessing they are) pers wearing woodland BDUs in Iraq though
