CAMPAIGN DRAMA ROCKS DEMOCRATS: KERRY FIGHTS OFF MEDIA PROBE OF RECENT ALLEGED INFIDELITY, RIVALS PREDICT RUIN

**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

MORE

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Howard Dean and John Edwards are still in the race. They both want to be president and will use these new revelations to attack Kerry in the primaries and at the nomination process in the Democratic Convention.

The GOP only has to sit back and watch these Democrats attack each other.

I look forward to Howard Dean taking the nomination. It will be a landslide for the GOP. There will be a larger GOP majority in congress and we can appoint some 35yo conservative judges to the supreme court.

Yup, I really do look forward to a Howard Dean getting the nomination.

The GOP is mostly neo-conservative, not my idea of a good political party but they are the lesser of evils when compared to the socialist Democrats.

I voted for Pat Buchanin, NOT George Bush in the last election.

I think Buchanan would appreciate it more if you spelled his name right.

Like I said, the GOP only has to sit back and watch the Democrats attack each other. It is still early in the election season and there is more than one contender for the Democratic nomination.

How about dental records? Maybe his grade school report cards?
If it's good enough for Bush, then it's good enough for Kerry or anyone else that wants to get into the ring.

I guessed you missed all the mud that's been slung at Bush?
Silly me, he's a Republican so he deserves it right?

Just a little perspective. Rant over.

God I'm glad that sixgun is here to straighten everything out for us. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to interpret anything.

Rush reported today that Wes Clark was the source of this break, then Clark endorses Kerry? What gives?

Fine for me if they want to fight about it. It is funny to me though that mainstream news did not bite on this yet. I watched NBC start to finish tonight and no mention of any of it. They did talk about Bush and a dental exam in AL in the 70's though. Go figure.

To clarify other people's responses. "GOP" stands for "Grand Old Party," and is the other name of the Republican Party (the main conservative party in the USA). The Democratic Party (the main liberal party in the USA) unfortunately doesn't have a widely-accepted nickname, so people have to write it out again and again and again (or just say "the Dems").

1) As of yet, it's just "allegations." Maybe true, but maybe false. Remember Bush faced allegations of cocaine use and going AWOL from the National Guard, and he still won.

2) Even if it IS true, as long as it's consentual, I really don't see what the big freakin' deal is. This is for his family to resolve. Do people think that someone couldn't properly plan the economy or wage war or negotiate with other countries because five years ago they *gasp* fooled around with an intern?! Come on.

It is comforting to know that we have someone here to help those of us who aren't smart enough to figure things out on our own. ;)

I don't think that the ****** scandal thing has nearly the impact that it has had in the past. I mean.... when the news about Gary Hart broke in the 80's it decimated his career.... it barely caused a bump in the road for Clinton during his campaign. I don't think it will derail Kerry even if it is true.
I wish they'd just stick to the issues.

Just for the record: Neither CNN nor FoxNews have ANYTHING about this. Actually, FoxNews currently has an article about how other candidates are "searching for a way to discredit Kerry," yet it doesn't mention THIS. Very suspicious, no? One wonders whether the Drudge Report made a boo-boo and published something that wasn't totally true...

Drudge is usually pretty reliable. I know he is a numbnuts a lot of times, but he usually has his **** together. Hard to figure this one out. Still talking about Bush in the NG, but Kerry and an intern gets no play? Some power play is on with the dems and this ain't over is my guess.

I think if it's reliable... we'll see it come out in the mainstream media as well. It's not like they're gonna let it go. Granted, they might jump on it faster if it was GW, but they'll jump on it just the same.

I don't know. NBC ran a story about campaign finance tonight and if you wer kust listening then you know that the point of hte story was tht 18 of the 20 PAC's that are not complying with the reforms are democrat and working to get Bush out of the White house. On the other hand if you were just watching, they kept flashing a picture of Bush with the word "misinform" supreimposed on him. It was not what I would call objective journalism or even accurate in any sense.

Right after that they reported about the dental records from AL for Bush. They made a point of saying that the dentist did not rememebr the 1970's dental exam, but that he did rememebr his signature. Wow, now that is top notch journalism. How many 1970 dental exams do you think that dentist does actually remember? None, but the way they reported is technically accurate but misleading as hell. Think about it.

I ain't a conspiracy theorist, but there is no substance to this NG thing and it won't go away while a Kerry intern thing does not even get a mention? Somehting does not make sense.

Say what you will about CNN or even NBC, but if you tell me that FOX NEWS has a liberal, anti-Republican bias I'm going to fall out of my chair laughing. And FoxNews didn't have this story either.

Amidst all the mudslinging and poo flinging among the candidates.... does anyone really stand a chance against Bush? The best scandal anyone can dig up on Bush is his National Guard record? When did he serve? Wasn't the NG a smoking, drinking, broken organization back then anyway?

hank
02-13-2004, 07:57 AM
NO, I'm with you on Fox. I like to watch it when I can, which is not often b/c I don't get cable, but I recognize it for what it is. IMHO, however, it isn't nearly as right-leaning as we would think if we had not been exposed to so much "objective" journalism that is secretly and less overtly left-biased. Does that make sense?

That show with mara liason, mort kondracke and that other guy that gets moderated by Brit Hume really is a "balanced show". Now, hannity and o'reilly, I agree. They clearly lean right and act like they are balance. But, two moderators dod not a network make. I like to watch CNN and FOX to get my own balanced version. The key thing, I think, is to view it all with a healthy dose of skepticism and always question the motivations of the reporter AND network.

^well, California can be funny sometimes :D

As far as none of the mainstream media reporting on Kerry yet, didn't Newsweek wait several days before finally releasing details of the Lewinsky scandal even though they had the story well in hand?

hank
02-13-2004, 06:25 PM
True, still the timing and Clark's endorsement are just weird. Also, the big 3 and CNN's seeming unwillingness to let go of the NG thing for Bush. I don't think we know the shole story yet about Clark/Kerry.
