You're right, during the Rif war those tanks needed protection from the infantry, they were very vulnerable, and in some cases it was safer to walk than to drive one of those things.

They do need that even tosay.. all those fancy MBTs.. when in woods or in urban areas.. :) Only in desert Tanks can operate efficiently by them selfs.. :)

1. I'm sure their german friends would have benn happy to sell them to them
2. I'm sure the French would have looked at ways of getting rid of abandoned german kit at the end of ww2 and why not flog it over the border.

Germans sold them to Spain. Like it sold other weapons also.. :)

Yes, Spain received 20 Panzer IVH and 10 Stug IIIG of Germany in 1943, with many other equipment, aircrafts and armament thanks to the Bär Plan.
